At twenty-four years old, Kim Namjoon was the youngest lieutenant of Bang Shihyuk, the leader of the Korean Mob. Namjoon handled all of the group's business in the Seoul Capital Area, and answered to no one else but the boss. There were even talks of him being the front-runner to replace Shihyuk once he retires, but Namjoon had other plans.

He didn't choose the criminal life. He was forced into it as a child when his father gave him up because he couldn't pay his debt. Namjoon was told that he had to work for the Mob for ten years for his father's debt to be repaid.

That was nine years ago. One more year and he'd be free.

No one would expect him to leave. He was at the top, and he was the best of the best, but he had been counting the days ever since he started. He knew that they wouldn't come after him- it was kind of a code within the Mob to let members leave in peace if they have served the organization well. That was the only reason why Namjoon did his best. He didn't enjoy all the criminal activity he was forced to do, but he had no choice.

He walked into his boss's office, having been called to do so. He stopped in front of the man's desk and bowed.

"Good morning, sir."

Shihyuk smiled, which made his face look friendly, but Namjoon knew that behind his boss' approachable façade was a ruthless Mob boss who wouldn't hesitate to slaughter a hundred men.

"Ah Namjoon-ah, please, sit." Shihyuk instructed. The boy obeyed, sitting on the leather couch in front of his desk. He then handed Namjoon a picture of a girl in her early twenties.

Namjoon tried to keep his surprise hidden when she saw her face. He hadn't seen her in nine years, but he was sure that he was looking at his childhood best friend's picture.

"I have a job for you." Shihyuk said. "706, Hanhwa Obelisk Apartment in Mapo-gu. I want her here alive."

"A kidnapping, sir?"

"I wouldn't insult you by sending you to do just a simple kidnapping." Shihyuk smirked. "That girl's name is Park Youngwon. Her father used to be one of my lieutenants. He left just before she was born and it was an amicable separation."

Namjoon grew confused when his boss said this, but Shihyuk wasn't finished talking yet. His eyebrows furrowed and his smile slowly turned into a frown as he continued.

"Then I heard that he had been helping the police in taking down our organization. Now, that's not right, is it?" He scowled. "There's nothing I hate more than a traitor."

He then collected himself and put back the friendly smile on his face.

"Send my regards to her father when you take her. He needs to know that it's his actions that caused this."

"What will happen to her?" Namjoon asked. He tried to sound nonchalant, but at that moment he felt like throwing up.

"I haven't really thought about it yet. I mean, she's quite beautiful, so we can sell her in the black market." Shihyuk shrugged casually. "Or maybe we could train her and have her work for us. That seemed to work well with you."

Shihyuk looked Namjoon in the eyes as he said this, and at that moment, Namjoon realized what it was. It wasn't just a simple assignment. It was his final test of loyalty- if he could subject a person to the same thing he went through, knowing how it will destroy the person's spirit and innocence. He would even bet that Shihyuk knew about his and Youngwon's past friendship.

But of course, if he wanted to be free, or even to live, he had to obey. He nodded obediently to his boss, then bowed when he was dismissed.

He thought about what he was going to do as he made his way to Mapo-gu. He didn't want to bring Youngwon into the world of violence that the Korean Mob will give her, but if he disobeyed Shihyuk, he won't ever be able to escape his servitude, at least, not alive.
