Date Night || Kim Namjoon

Byeon Jeongmin was happy when she woke up that morning. It was her three-year anniversary with her boyfriend, Namjoon, and even though he had an extremely busy schedule, he had promised her that tonight was going to be all about her.

She hummed happily as she spritzed on some perfume, a smile making its way to her face as she glanced on the card that Namjoon had left for her on her nightstand that morning.

Happy Anniversary jagi, I'll see you at 6PM tonight. I love you so much.

She continued humming as she put on her black flats. Even though Namjoon was way taller than her, they had learned early on in their relationship that given his clumsiness, it would be safer for everyone if she just wore flats.

Her eyes drifted to the clock on the wall where the bright, red letters read 6:12 PM.

'Hm, Namjoon's running a bit late.' She thought. It was unusual. Even though she and Namjoon rarely got to spend time with each other, whenever he did make plans with her, he would always, always be on time.

Just as she brought out her phone from her purse to text him, she received a text.

준이 (Joonie): Hey jagi, I'm really sorry but everyone's having some problems and I can't leave them alone. Can we reschedule to 7:30 PM instead?

Jeongmin could almost imagine the stressed look Namjoon must have had as he typed the message. The boys always had a hard time before their comeback since they worked so hard, and with Namjoon being BTS' leader, it was his responsibility to make sure that everyone was okay, and he was great at it too. It was one of the many things that she loved about him.

Not wanting him to worry about her anymore, she replied back.

To 준이 (Joonie): Are you guys okay? Tell everyone that I'm cheering for you! BTS fighting!

To 준이 (Joonie): And don't worry about it. I'll be right here waiting~

Now that she had some more time to herself, Jeongmin decided to watch a movie, putting on a random rom-com and kicking her shoes off.

Just as the ending credits started to roll, her phone rang.

"Yeobeoseyo?"

Jeongmin heard Namjoon take a deep breath on the other side of the line, and he could tell that he was really frustrated.

"Jeongmin-ah..." He trailed off.

"Can't make it?" Jeongmin asked in a light tone. Yes, she was a bit disappointed, but she didn't want to add to Namjoon's problems, and she knew that if he had any other choice, he would be with her at that moment.

"9PM, I promise." Namjoon said.

"Hey, like I said, don't worry about it." Jeongmin assured.

"Ah, how did I get so lucky to have such an understanding girlfriend like you?"

"Aigoo~"

"I'm serious."

"Joon-ah, when I knew what I was getting into when I agreed to be your girlfriend." Jeongmin chuckled. "We aren't even married yet and we already have six children."

"You're the best." Namjoon told her sincerely. "Saranghae."

"Nado saranghae." She said before hanging up.

Deciding that she wanted to be more comfortable while she waited for her boyfriend, Jeongmin got a pillow from their bed and put it on the couch. She put on another movie then laid down, snuggling with the pillow.

It was already 2AM when Namjoon arrived at their apartment. He quietly opened the door and walked in, his heart melting when he saw his girlfriend asleep on the couch. He kneeled so that he was facing her, brushing some stray hairs from her face and tucking it behind her ear.

"Ah jagi, I'm so sorry." He whispered. "I planned the perfect night for us. It was supposed to be amazing."

He then pulled out something from his pocket, looking at it as it caught the light.

"Guess I'll have to wait one more year." He smiled as he twirled the ring in his hands, imagining how it would look on Jeongmin's finger. "Next year, I'll make you mine forever. It will be perfect, I promise."

Namjoon put the ring back in his pocket, then put his arms under Jeongmin, lifting her from the couch and carrying her to their bed where he gently laid her down, kissing her forehead as he tucked her in.

"I love you, Jeongmin-ah."
