Song Junghye
Loving Daughter, Beloved Friend
1996.10.11- 2018.2.23
Hoseok read the words that were engraved on the gravestone in front of him over and over again. It's been a few months since his fiancée passed away, but he still couldn't believe that she was gone. He sat in front of her gravestone, twirling the sunflower, which was her favorite flower, that he held in his hands.
"Happy birthday, love." He smiled sadly. He wasn't sure if he just imagined it or not, but he felt a slight breeze caress his face.
"I'm sorry. I know it's been a while since I last visited. I've been very busy." He said, but then he felt guilty. "No, that's a lie."
The tears that he had been holding back escaped from his eyes. He wiped them away with the back of his hand, but it was useless. He couldn't stop them from falling.
"Jagi, why did you leave me?" He asked, his voice breaking. "Every night I go to sleep, wishing that you would be beside me when I woke up, but you're never there when I open my eyes."
Hoseok cried silently for a while, thinking back to when he and Junghye had first met. At that time, he was having problems, what with all the pressures that fame had brought upon him and the boys of BTS. Junghye came into his life like she was the sun, bringing light into his dark days. If he was the hope of ARMYs, she was his.
They dated for five years, then Hoseok asked her to marry him. She made him the happiest man on earth when she said yes. They were in the middle of their wedding preparations when she was involved in a car accident.
Her death had left Hoseok broken. The boy was unable to speak or eat, not fully believing that she was gone. In her funeral, he was an empty shell.
Even until now, he still hadn't fully accepted that she was gone.
"You're unfair, do you know that?" Hoseok accused, but immediately regretted it.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't blame you." He apologized. "It's just that, you said we'll be together forever."
Hoseok run his hands over the engraving on her headstone.
"We never even got to say I do." He whispered.
Hoseok heard footsteps behind him, then felt a hand on his shoulder.
"Hoseok-ah, we need to leave if we're going to catch our flight." Yoongi told him. Hoseok looked up at his hyung, giving him a small smile as he nodded. He kissed the sunflower he was holding before placing it by Junghye's gravestone. He then stood up, giving the flower one last look.
"I love you, Song Junghye." He said. He then began walking towards the car. Yoongi started to follow him, but then he looked back and made a promise to the girl who left them a little too soon.
Don't worry Junghye-yah, the boys and I will take care of Hoseok until you see each other again.
