I shakily took a breath, my eyes trained on the floating Trin.
Either I damn her soul or save it.
Soul...
Soul?
I can see into a person's soul! Don't I feel stupid. There's a chance I will see what's left of Trin's soul. Maybe that would help make my choice a bit easier than before.
I stood up straight and tall, trying to concentrate on Trin's blank stare. I frowned as I saw her eyes flicker just briefly, but enough to catch my attention. Trin's still in there. That flicker just proved it. Which also proves that Trin is trying to fight off the Fae.
I focused all my attention onto my heart. Once I centered all my powers there, I briefly closed my eyes before opening them. Everything was sharper now, but I don't have time to bask in the gloriousness of the forest like I always do or take in all the beautiful details of Trin. But if you wanted to know, she can take your breath away, even from miles away. She was so bright that it's actually hurting my eyes. But I focused all my attention on her eyes, which was flickering for color to color in a matter of seconds. As long as she doesn't attack, I'm okay.
I stared into her electric blue eyes- sometimes ocean blue eyes- and dug in. All her memories came to life, nothing I haven't seen before since the last time I went in there. Then, I saw a fast forwarded version of her life from the night of the transformation. Training, locked up, and fed wolfsbane into her food to weaken her wolf and human- her daily routine until her Fae was strong. From there, I saw two different souls- the Fae and Trin's. I immediately went for Trin's.
Then I saw her.
William's POV
I pounced on every Fae I saw, giving them no mercy. What they did to our pack member, no matter who they were, is unforgivable. Me being an alpha, my job is to protect my people. The alpha blood in my veins were raging hot, no point from stopping it from what it wants.
I jumped onto the front of a Fae and bit into the flesh of their shoulder. I tore it off and dug my claws into his chest. Chunks of hia flesh and blood flew everywhere, I even got a taste of him. I didn't like it, but my wolf sure did.
After killing my prey, I saw a movement to my left.
General Jackelbel.
Malkai soon followed behind. I took off into the direction they were headed, my path clashing with Malkai's.
Jackelbel swiftly dodged tree after tree until he was at a clearing, jumping off a log and spreading his wings. Soon after, I followed along. I ran as fast as my legs could go, my muscles groaning in protest. I ran up to the log and jumped in midair. The space between Jackelbel and I was decreasing, so I swiped my claws in front me. My claws had extended far enough to scrape below his wings, causing him to drop a few feet. Just then, Malkai came out the woods and attacked him with his knife. I fell back onto the ground on all fours.
Malkai swiped left and right, all of which Jackelbel methodically blocked.
Another figure came into the clearing. This time, it was the lieutenant.
I ran after him without worrying about Malkai. The lieutenant saw me running towards him so he turned around and jumped, his wings extended. I tried to jump after him, but he was already too high. Soon, he was flying through the sky southward. I shifted back into my human form and stared at the sky until Malkai ran over out of breath.
