5 more days left.
Yes, I've been counting down the days till the new moon. When everything will change. Especially Trinity.
Right now, all I know is that Trin's going to turn into one of them on that night, midnight to be exact.
Everyday, I go out of my mind thinking of ways to stop it from happening. To protect Trin and my pack.
Knowing something is happening before hand is great. But not knowing what to do about it is torture.
Everyday, I'm out and about. Keeping my eyes, ears, and nose alert for anything suspicious. Especially around Trinity.
I was currently at the border of the territory, scanning the area for any signs of the Fae's. If you looked really hard, you could see Trelia and another Nymph in the tree, ten feet away from me. I nodded at them then continued walking along the border.
I thought it was a really good idea to place two Nymphs at every direction; north, south, east, and west. Twenty Nymphs had arrived not too long ago. They now inhabit our forest, since they preferred it over the guest rooms.
The Nymphs were willing to help out. Because they were forest nymphs, they were practically attached to it. It's as if the nymph and the forest itself are one. For example, the Nymphs can communicate to the trees. They say that when a tree swishes in the air, it's telling a secret. The wind carries the secret with them. Any conversation between anyone is heard by the wind, who carries it with them, and tells it to the trees. Then, the secret would be passed to the nymphs.
The forest nymphs can't just communicate with the trees, but they have the healing power as well. Healing power of life. Only the chosen ones had the actual healing power of the soul. They can revive anything that was once living, but of course it has it's limitations. It's really a beautiful process on how they transfer life into another soul. I've only seen it once in Russia, when one of the royals' cat had died.
'Emaline, I know you're concerned about Trinity's safety, but please come home.'
I frowned at Liam, even though he can't see me. 'I can't. I'm here to be on a lookout, remember?'
I knew he sighed. 'Your shift was over hours ago. Why don't you give Jake a chance to lookout? Or maybe come back to check on Trinity.'
I sighed, stopping in my tracks. These past days have been stressful.
'Alright.'
I turned around to the direction of the pack house and began making my way there.
"Luna Emaline," one of the Nymphs said in a hushed but alarmed voice.
I froze in my tracks, sniffing the air and keeping my ears alert. "What is it?"
"Something is making their way here. Something, someone. I'm not sure."
I scowled. I closed my eyes and let my ears do all the sensing.
I heard the trees swaying gently in the breeze. A light wind blowing from the north. The Nymphs rapid heart beat and their shallow breaths.
Then I heard it. It sounded heavier than the wind and it was coming from the east. It sounded like whispers between many voices. But it felt like air; thick air. It was coming closer and closer my way. I tried to sniff the unknown thing, but came out empty.
What the hell is that?
'Liam, I spotted something suspicious. I need to find out what it is.'
'Li, please co-'
But he was cut off from my connection. Another voice had overpowered Liam's just as the big gust of wind hit me full force. I fell back into the dirt, breathless from the impact.
"The change is inevitable," a million voices in one shouted out to me harshly. "You can't save your precious friend! She will be one of us!"
It felt like the words were drilling themselves into my brain. Knives stabbing at the back of my head. A piercing noise in my ear. The voices in my head felt like nothing before. These harsh, violent sounds are enough to drive a man insane.
Curling myself into a fetal position, I clutched my ears, hissing from the headache the voices are causing me. Screaming for them to stop.
"Stop! I can't take it anymore! Please, stop!"
Soon, it was all gone. The voices had faded away, leaving nothing but a buzzing sound in my head. The buzzing sound soon turned everything in my body numb.
I still had my eyes squeezed shut, my head to the floor, and my hand clutching my pounding forehead.
"Luna..."
"knocked down..."
"...blood."
I could barely hear them over the buzzing.
Then, I felt nothing.
Heard nothing.
Saw nothing.
It was as if my whole mind and body had shut off. I tried reaching out for my wolf; nothing. I was getting frustrated with the eerily calm buzzing in my mind and body.
Slowly, the buzzing came to a mute.
Silence. At last.
