(Chaol pov:)

"Emma and William were found dead." Mr. Forkle said.

No! They couldn't be! We had set up the best security so they would be... Safe, we were supposed to keep them safe. How did this happen?

"Who are they?" Fitz asked interrupting my thoughts. "Sophie's birth parents, well our birth parents," I answered him as I sat down in the plush chair closest to me. "What? But... How?" Fitz said after awhile. He looked as shocked as I felt. They were my parents, Sophie's parents, Amy's. And now they're gone... Gone forever.

"Chaol! I need you to know that this was not your fault!" Tiergan said pulling out of my trace. I nodded and looked over ar Fitz. His eyebrow was scrunched together, he was sitting in the chair next to me, and he was playing the necklace that he never took off. "Does Amy know?" He asked standing up. "Yes, Della and Edaline took her upstairs," Juline answered giving him a sad smile. "Chaol, I'm very sorry for your loss." He told me giving me a slight nod, then left.

"How did they dye?" I asked, looking up at the council who raised me. They meant the world to me, but so did Emma and William. I never really knew them but I always made sure they were safe. I had always wanted to meet them but I never aloud for "technical reasons". Which I guess I get but, I wish they would off none how much I cared about them and love them. "There throats were slit. Fast and painless death." Mr. Forkle answered. I nodded as I stood. "Thank you for telling me," I told them, then walk out.

When I walked into the main room everyone was having friendly conversations about the ball tonight. "Are you coming?" Linh asked when she noticed I walked in. "Yeah, but you won't notice me." Marella mumbles something that I couldn't quite make out but I heard, "Hot and everyone will." I couldn't help but smile. "Well, Ella I didn't know you had a thing for blonds," I said raising an eyebrow at her. Fitz let out a laugh as her face turned redder than a tomato. "Don't call me that. Its Marella, no Mare, no Ella." She said looking me straight in the eye. "So... You not denying that you think I'm hot?" Her face turned even redder. "Excuse me? For your information, I do not have a thing for blondes and especially not someone as arrogant as you." I nodded trying my best not to laugh.

I didn't like her in any romantic way. But I thought it was time this group sees the fun side of me, let them now I can be fun. Fitz who was standing to my right lost it and stared dying laughing which caused me to lose it also. she let out a grunt of disapproval and walked away.

"I didn't know you had a sense of humor. I thought you were all mister tough guy." Dex said from his spot on the couch. "Well, I guess you can't judge a book by its cover," I told him as I walked upstairs.

Fitz and I walked into Amy's room. Edaline was holding her and rubbing her back while Della was telling her encouraging things. "They looked up at us as we walked in. "Hey," I said softly. "We are so sorry Amy! I wish I could say more but I don't know what to say. I know I didn't know them but still cared about them. So, if there is anything I can do for you please don't hesitate to ask." I told her. She had sat up now and was looking at me and Fitz. "Yeah, and I promise I will get your sister back! I'm not going to let anything happen to the rest of your family." Fitz told her, giving her a sad smile. Before I could register what happened, I realized she was hugging me. "Thank you!" She whispered through sobs. I hugged her back, I may not know her but its never too late.

(Biana's Pov:)

I ran downstairs with my heels in hand. I wasn't late but, wasn't early. Mom told me to be ready 10 minutes ago, but when I came down she wasn't there so...

I was wearing one of my favorite dresses! The bottom was layers of tulle that were a light blue-grey. The top had different shades of blue flowers sown onto the top. it was a little low but I liked it like that. I had worn it with a matching blue-grey cape and grey hells. I had done my makeup simple but elegant. My hair was in a side braid and I had put little diamonds to add a little bling.
