Chaol pov:

I watch Sophie collapse on the ground. I stood there frozen. She looked horrible. As soon as her "powers" wore off, she looked like a zombie! The fact that she was still alive, and looking the way she did, was, well a miracle!

Fitz was at Sophie's side in a second, "Get Elwin!" He yelled, tears choking his voice. I ran inside, they were all sitting in one of Everglens big dining rooms.

"Sophie needs help! I... I need Elwin!" I spat out before running back out. As I was running Sandor, Sage, Bruno, and Grizel came flying past me. They are at Sophie's side in a seconds.

"I need space! Everyone out of the way!" Elwin yelled, as he ran to Sophie's side minutes later. Grady and Edaline right behind him. They both stopped when they saw her body. Edaline let out a scream of horror and Grady's face paled as he pulled his wife into a hug.

"Fitz, I need you to back away," Livvy said calmly as they treated her. "NO! I'm, I'm not leaving her!" He protested, but to no avail. Grizel came up behind him and grabbed him. Fitz didn't fight, because he was crying too hard. Sandor picked Sophie up gently and they lept away. The rest of us stood there shocked. She was home, but would she make it?

---------------------------3 days later---------------------------------

Fitz pov:

I watched her chest rise and fall in a steady rhythmic motion. I wish I could say she was peacefully resting, but no. Every few minutes she would thrash and scream, her breathing would become haggard and Bullhorn would run over and start screaming beside her. Elwin had to sedate her so much, but it still couldn't keep her from thrashing.

Sophie was wrapped in bandages from head to toe. Her right leg and left arm were in casts, and most of her beautiful face was wrapped up. She had bruises and cuts all over. Elwin had told us to prepare ourselves for some heavy scaring, both mentally and physically.

5 minutes, it has been that long since she has had one, which was an improvement! I had to keep reminding myself to look on the bright side...

"Maybe you should go home and get some rest," Elwin said as he walked into the healing center. I have been in the same seat, the same position the entire time. I wasn't going to let go of her hand till I had too. I looked up at him, "Please don't make me leave." He gave me a sad smile. Grizel grunted from her corner of the room, "Elwin just let him be." "I don't need two patients! Now, you don't have to leave but at least go to the locker rooms, take a shower, and change. Then go get some food. I promise if anything changes I will tell you immediately." I nodded. I stared at her for a second. I hurt to let go of her hand, but I did. But before I left I bent down and kissed her.

Elwin pov:

Five days, she had been out for five days. Five of the longest days of my life. "Sophie, please make it," I whispered. I was concerned she wouldn't, every day she got a little better, but today she had gotten worse. It was like we took two steps forward, now we are three steps back. I stared at her intently, what else can I do?

"How's she doing?" A gentle voice asked from behind. "Not good," I admitted. "Well, we are just gonna have to fix that!" She said joining me. "I admire your optimism Livvy, but one of these days she won't make it. ButI'm hoping its not this time." "How about you go get some sleep and I'll monitor her?" I nodded and walked to the back room. " She's going to be fine!" She called after me.

The thing is I wish I could believe that fully but right now she's looking bad. I ran my hand down my face, what am I doing wrong?

Sophie pov:

Cold and dark. I was cold and all around me was darkness. Excepted for a small light in the distance. But when I went to reach for it, pain came. Monsters were holding me back, chains wrapped all around me, holding me back. The monster was back, and he knew he was going to win. I wanted to get out of this place, but I was trapped. I wanted to scream but my voice wouldn't work. I want to run, but the monster said no. All I could do was let the monster win.

Black.....

Color. This time there's color, but I can't make it out. And voices I hear voices! I want to run to them, but I'm still trapped and they know that.

Sophie? The voice rang through my head. I knew that voice! I loved that voice. It was crisp and sharp, but gently and loving.

I need you to wake up! Please, we miss you! I miss you, I... I can't do it anymore!

Fitz! But I was supposed to be in prison, no I escaped. All the memories came flooding back in, and so did the pain. It was light a thousand daggers shot through me. The chains holding me back melted and I ran, with everything in me I ran to the light.

Fitz:

"I don't think it worked." Elwin said kicked the nearest coat. "I don't understand! Why won't she get better. We have tried everything!" He let out a frustrated sigh and went back to looking through medical books.

Bruno put his head on my lap to comfort me, and it helped, but still... And Sage laid her head beside Sophie's head. Sage had taken it pretty hard, she missed Sophie and now that she wouldn't wake up... Sage blamed herself even more. I laid my head on against the wall and let sleep take over me.

"Wake up!" My head stapped up to the voice. Sandor was standing beside me staring at Bullhorn who had just run across the room while letting out a scream. I looking confusingly at him then back to Sophie. She was sitting straight up, breathing hard, and panicked.

"Bbbbex annd Bbbiannnaaa! Wwwherrre arrre ttthhheyyy?" She stuttered out with a panicked scream. "Sophie, there fine." She looked panicked around the room. Her hand went to the wrap around her eyes. "Ww..whhere a..am I?" She attempted to say, her voice weak. "You're at the healing center," I told her trying not to cry from relief. "Fffitzz?" She choked out, turning her head in the direction of my voice. "I'm here," I said talking hand. "W..w..why c..cc.an't I s..ssee?" "You have a bandage on your face. I need you to lay down and I will take it off." She nodded and slowing laid down.

Elwin gently cut it off and wiped her face. Her eye slowly opened and she winced at the lights that had been kept one the lowest setting. She blinked a couple of times before looking around the room.

Sophie:

Elwin was standing over me and Livvy was right behind him. Sandor and Grizel were standing at the foot of the cot. Sage and Bruno were beside them, and on my left was... Fitz...

Our eyes locked and I couldn't help but cry. "Yyyou look likke trrrash," I told him. He cracked a smile, "Your one to talk."
