After the prophet Nathan rebuked King David, for committing adultery with Bathsheba and then ordering Uriah's murder to cover up his initial sin, King David didn't say 'How dare you accuse me of these things. Do you know who I am? Guards, off with his head!' Humbled, David instead repented, and was reconciled with God.
