Meeting him.

"This thing I'm talking about is, well, a teenage boy,"

The two boys gawped at the man, unable to process what they'd just been told.

"Sorry, could you explain a bit more?"

Troy inhaled a deep breath of air.

"You are both talented, well-known boys who have very successful vlogging careers,

"Your gaming video views have rocketed,  and your Sims 4 series is the most popular Sims 4 series on Youtube,"

The two Londoners exchanged confused looks.

"This may sound very weird, and majorly impossible, but we have created Dil Howlter."

Dan and Phil both froze, unable to comprehend what Troy had just said.

"You mean you've made a copy of him as a sim, right?" Dan said, trying to laugh even though he was a little too shocked for humour at this point in time.

"Ah, well no. Should've said that better. We have created a human version of Dil Howlter, using advanced technology that our department in the lab has been working on for at least 18 years now, and other labs have been assisting us in. We need you to care for Dil."

He looked real, too real. Phil was staring with a confused look on his face, Dan with more of a shocked one. From his clear skin, to the fact that they'd dressed him in clothes matching him as a sim. They were both fangirling and terrified at the same time.

Dil gave them both that awkward wave that they'd both seen before. Phil marched over to say hi, but Dan grabbed his wrist mumbling something about safety and advanced technology.

"He's totally safe, y'know. Human too."

Dan turned to face Troy,

"So what do you actually need us for anyway?"

"Well, you need to show him the ropes of being human. He's in that weird sim-ish way that will creep people out like it does with you right now, so helping him with an accent, speaking and skills should help a lot. This could help us get funding to build on this even further."

"So we're adopting a teenager?"

"Basically, and, before you say otherwise, you're legally obliged to do so."

"Wow, okay. Have we got a book or something to help us out?"

"Well, being the smartest people we could find for the job, we thought you'd figure it out in time."

"Oh, okay."

Dil wandered around awkwardly, smiling and waving at strangers in the street. Because he couldn't speak English, Dan and Phil were having a very hard time picking out what to make him for lunch. That was, until, Phil came up with an ingenious idea.

"Why not watch back our videos? We'll find out what he likes and dislikes, and we can work from them just like a guidebook!"

Dan stared at him in awe, amazed that he hasn't come up with the idea himself. Of course, Phil was known for having brilliant ideas, such as the many YouTube tags that he'd created.

Dan walked through to the lounge, grabbed his laptop and loaded their Sims 4 playlist.

"I feel as if it would be too weird to watch this with Dil. Y'know, because it's him." Dan suggested to Phil.

"Ah yeah, but wouldn't we need to tell him that he's a sim anyway?" Phil questioned.

"Fuck, I never thought of that. I'll call Troy and ask."

Dan scrolled through his contacts on his phone, soon reaching Troy's name and pressing the call button.

RING RING, RING RING, RING RING.

"Hello?" Troy's Liverpool accent really didn't suit him, Dan decided.

"Hi, uh, Dan here. Just wondering to what extent we should tell Dil about his sim-ish-ness?"

"Well, hate to say this, but you're on your own on this one too. I will say, however, that this would be most successful if you didn't tell him but it's all up to you."

Dan ended the phone call, deciding with Phil that not telling Dil he was a sim would be for the better.

At least, that's what he thought.
