Knocking onto her captain's door, Rukia waited paitently for him to answer. Weeks passed and she was still thinking about a way to help them. He didn't deserve to suffer. Not him. Not the captain who was in her opinion the most amazing person, she had ever met. And (Y/N)? A woman so thoughtful, kind and beautiful shouldn't be captured with her past. Lost in her thoughts she didn't notice the kind gaze of her captain, who answered the door, after getting no response of his calls.

"Kuchiki?", he asked softly and watched her shocked expression amused.

"Oh I am sorry Ukitake-taichou. I wasn't paying attention. I have important documents for you.", she spoke nervously and showed him the stack of papers. Smiling lightly, he made her space to enter his office.
Rukia walked in and took a seat, after placing the documents onto his table.

"It's okay Rukia. I will have a look on it right away. By the way are you alright? Is everything going well?", he asked kindly, but had to turn away quickly, because of a sudden urge to cough. Worried she brought him a glas of water, which he gladly drank.

"Is everything alright captain? Would you like to rest a bit? I can help you with your work?", Rukia blurted out one question after another but was stopped by her captain's hand on hers. He could see the sadness in her face. Guiding her to a seat he let her get comfortable.

"Rukia. Don't worry. I am fine. Sometimes my illness is getting worse, but I will handle it. I have much support of squad 4 and you all.", he tried to light her mood, but her expression showed him otherwise. She knew that he just covered his real pain in lies and she couldn't take it anymore to see her captain like this.

"Rukia? "

"Rukia, is something on your mind?", Jushiro asked louder to pull her back of her thoughts.

Caught she was fighting for words, but stopped after seeing the strained smile on her captain's face.

"I...i apologize Captain Ukitake, I am just sad.. You don't deserve that!", she spoke honestly. Stunned about her outburst he watched her mouth agape and felt bad to be the cause of her frustration. Sighing he got up from his chair and walked around the table to get to her side. Kneeling down to be on her level he showed her a true and heartwarming smile like he used to.

"Rukia I am really sorry to make you worry. I know that lately I wasn't the best captain. I was carried away by the hard work, but believe me, I am fine and it will get better.", he took her hand and helped her to get up. Nodding she bowed respectfully and headed out of the door. She knew that he was lying. She knew that he was pushing his feelings away and hide behind a pokerface to move on. For the others it would be fine but knowing the real reason she had to do something. Rukia decided to make a plan. He had always helped her in all kind of situations and now she wanted to help him too. Smiling motivated she headed back to her chambers to think about it.

In the meanwhile Jushiro got back to his seat, thinking about her words. His squad shouldn't suffer of his misery. "I have to work harder on myself to be a better captain. My feelings aren't allowed to be in the way...", he whispered desperately, because deep inside he knew that it was a hard challenge.

And not only for the captain, life seemed harder than usual. The next days were coming and going like any other, but for (Y/N), her daily life was quite struggeling. She was working like a maniac to get her mind clear. Unboxing a package after another to make the shop ready for the customers, she didn't notice the moving shop doors.

"(Y/N) - San? Do you need help?", a feminine voice reached her ears and let her stop.

"Orihime? What brings you here? Is everything alright?", (Y/N) asked stunned and came to her side. Smiling the young girl nooded happily. "Kuchiki called me and told me to come here. Is it alright to wait here?", she asked kindly.
(Y/N) nodded and showed her the way to the living room. Exhausted she made them some tea to relax. They didn't have to wait long for Rukia to come. The moment they sat down to drink, a sudden gash of wind threw into their faces and the next moment a sweating shinigami arrived at the door.

"I am so sorry to let you wait.", she let herself fall beside them, breathing heavily, but smiled from ear to ear after seeing a confused looking (Y/N).

"Great you are here too. So let's speak about Inoue's training.", Rukia announced happily.

"Pardon?", (Y/N) asked more confused than before.

"Orihime told me that she wanted to support Ichigo as much as possible, but often felt that she was in the way. I want you to help her (Y/N). Please train her healing ability and I train her fighting skills.", Rukia explained and gave Inoue a supporting clap onto her shoulder.

" Why so sudden? Orihime what do you say about this? ", she asked irritated. The girl watched the hopeful eyes of Rukia and could feel that she was part of something. On the other hand Orihime always wanted to get better and help more. The thought that Ichigo would be proud of her progress let her heart flutter. It was a win win situation so she tried her best to help Rukia out.

" Yeah she is right. I was too afraid to ask you because you have so much work to do... I want to get stronger for Kurosaki-kun", she spoke and took (Y/N) 's hands.

Deep in thought she watched the sparkling eyes of the young girls before her. Why not? She needed a distraction anyway. Nodding with a smile she was hugged dearly by Inoue.

"Great let's start and move to Soul Society!", Rukia announced thriumphycally, while (Y/N) spitted her tea across the table.

"What? No no no. Was this your plan from the beginning?", (Y/N) asked shocked and jumped to her feets.

"At soul society the amount of reishi is much higher than here. Inoue would get far more better than in the world of the living. You know that better than I do (Y/N) . You said you will train her. So deal with it", Rukia explained excited, while sipping some tea with a delightful sigh.

(Y/N) 's look wandered to an shocked Inoue who felt uncomfortable of this situation. She knew from the start that something was off, but on the other side it warmed her heart that Rukia was so caring for Jushiro. And honestly she couldn't deny to feel worried herself.
Running away from her past wasn't right, she was aware. And deep inside she always wanted to know if there would have been another chance for their love. Even if it might break her heart again. She wanted to see him... To see if he was okay... Just one last time.

"Alright..", she spoke calmly and was pushed to the ground by a big hug from Rukia.

"I am so happy thank you... You will see.. You will make it. Whatever happened between you two, you will get over it", she whispered. (Y/N) smiled about her heartwarming words and got up.

"Your plan was really amazing Rukia. But if you ask me it was a waste of time. If you just had ask her, she might have said yes. After all she was making tons of his medicine these past few days so she would have been going there anyway.", Kisuke's voice appeared beside them and was amused about the shocked faces.

"Is that true?", Rukia asked amused, watching the stuttering woman beside her with a smirk.

"I just made it okay. How it would get there was in work... I just want for him to be okay and that his illness isn't in the way to be a great captain. ", (Y/N) stuttered nervously.

Her look fell on Inoue who watched the ground sadly. Realizing why the young student was frustrated she took her hand and pressed it softly.

"But I think your plan is brilliant and we will do it. It would be much better for me to have support. And Inoue will get stronger.", (Y/N) added and got another hug from Inoue who was beyond happy to get help.

"Group hug!!! ", Kisuke shouted and jumped to a screaming (Y/N) and Inoue who were pressed to the ground of his weight.

"Damn it Kisuke! Are you insane! "

"a little bit"
