Chapter 5 - The Road Trip (Day 3)

The time: 6AM

Since Shoyo had been picked up by Sugawara, Nishinoya and Tanaka, it had never been louder for him. It would've been nicer for him in silence, but he didn't mind it, since it was both more company and getting to the hospital quicker.

Sugawara is the first to wake up, deciding to immediately boot up the car and begins to drive away.

Around one or two miles of driving, so about a minute or so, Shoyo picks his head up off of his shoulder as he rubs his eyes, tinting them red slightly.
"Good morning, Shoyo."
"Morning Suga!"

Gradually, the other two wake up, slightly shocked as they forget that they are on a road trip.

The Time: 7AM

"There's someone else we need to pick up before we go any further." Sugawara says, as he pulls up outside an unknown house.

Sugawara whips out his phone, nearly dropping it in the process. Opening up his messenger, he texted a number he hadn't saved as a name, leading the other three to believe it's someone they don't like.

"Tanaka, move over. He's coming"
Tanaka takes Sugawara's order and moves onto the middle seat, waiting to find out who this mystery person is.

The four hear the front door shut, and all look up towards the lightly tinted yellow door, seeing Tsukishima come out of it, before locking it behind him.

While Tsukishima walks to the car they're in, all but Sugawara was slightly nervous about how the rest of the trip will go.

The time: 11AM

After hours of sitting in silence, being even remotely nervous to say a single word, Sugawara breaks the silence after pulling up to a gas station.
"Bathroom break anyone?"

Before anyone can say anything, Nishinoya and Tanaka pour themselves out of the door and run straight to the bathroom, Tsukishima following at his own, slow, pace behind them.

"Aren't you going too?" Sugawara says, opening his door to get out.
"O-oh! Yeah! Of course!" Shoyo laughs awkwardly, before also opening his door.

As Sugawara and Shoyo walk to the bathroom, Shoyo quietly sings to himself
"Bathroom, bathroom, I gots to pee. I'm gonna sprinkle all my tinkle in the-"
Shoyo opens the door to enter the bathroom and to his surprise, Tsukishima is standing there, towering over him.

After a small awkward moment shared between Sugawara, Shoyo and Tsukishima, they all managed to get to where they needed to.

The time: 11:15AM

Shoyo, Sugawara and Tsukishima have waited in the car for 10 minutes, waiting for the other two to come out.
"I'll get them." Tsukishima gets out of the car and yells something unintelligible into the bathroom, making the other two come out immediately after, shaking while walking back to the car as Tsukishima looks as proud as he's ever been.

"What did you say to them?" Sugawara asks.
"Only that if they didn't come out, no girl would ever step ten feet within where they are."
"And you believed it?!" Shoyo and Sugawara look back to the other two, as they nod their heads in shame.

The time: 3PM

"Are we really just going to sit here in silence?" Nishinoya asks.
"Well, if you have something better to listen to..."
Sugawara hands the aux cord back to Nishinoya.
"... put it on yourself."
Taking out his phone, Nishinoya proceeds to go through his music and decides to play Under the Sea sung by Miyu Irino.

Almost immediately, Sugawara turns it off.
"Anything but that."
"Aw! Fine." Nishinoya plays Killing me Softly by Fugees.

"N-" Sugawara tries to say no, but is cut off by Nishinoya.
"You said anything but that." Sugawara goes silent and continues to drive along the road, trying not to question Nishinoya's choice of music.

The time: 8PM

The five had been driving for a while without stopping again, so Sugawara pulls in to another gas station, but much to his surprise, the other four were already asleep.

Tsukishima was the first to go, then Shoyo, then Tanaka, then Nishinoya. It was no wonder it had been so quiet for a while.

Nishinoya's music is still playing, so Sugawara turns it off and plays Hikariare Moonlight Version, before getting out of the car, going to the bathroom and buying a few meat buns for the morning.

The time: 11PM

Everyone is still out like a light, and Sugawara pulls over to a secluded parking lot that looked like no one had been there for a good few days so he can finally rest and turn his own light out before the morning.
