Pureblood Princess. That's what they call me. But this princess has no King or Queen. Not anymore. This princess is broken. Her crown is falling but no one would ever know. No one is allowed to know. When she dies? All that lives on is her name. Ruin that? What's the point in living. That's what I've been taught. Pureblood Princess and I'm yet to find my Prince. The cool air hit my face, sending shivers down my spine as I sat outside on the steps of Malfoy Manor. Strands of my hair blowing recklessly in the strong breeze. Another party - the last of the gatherings before the school year started again. I had spent most of my time after the passing of my parents floating through other pureblood houses - the Yaxleys, a lot of time at the Carrows. The Lestrange family, but they didn't talk much. Goyle as well. Next up for this year was the Malfoys. I had been sort of close to Draco but not close enough so that it wouldn't be weird living with him. Or his parents. I had only met his parents a few times, trying to keep contact minamal and to the people who were a necessity to speak to, the hosts and whatever.
"Miss L/n, had enough already?" A monotonous voice drawled from behind me, approaching. His footsteps as painfully slow as his words.
"Is it that obvoius?" I smirk and turn my head to face him. Professor Snape was a bit of a sticky one. My relationship with him anyways. He was by far the best teacher in Hogwarts. Held himself with such admirable qualities and with such respect from every student in his path. Out of fear perhaps, but regarless - it was admirable.
"Only to those who wish to see." He replies sharply. "Are you prepared for next week?" He offers a hand to me - to help me stand up. I take it, my small cold hand in his large one. His single touch sending shivers through my body.
"I believe so. Starting Newts; it's quite exciting don't you think?" I giggle slightly, gazing up into his onyx eyes as he stares down at me. A softening silence transpires and his hand lingers next to mine. His eyes, dark and emotionless. My heart, racing.
"Indeed. It is."
"Mhmm."
Still locked in a frozen trance that felt as though it would last for eternity; only to be broken by me averting my eyes as I regain conciousness of some sort. Control perhaps. Over myself.
"I better get back inside. I'll see at school, have a nice evening Professor." I awkwardly say before stumbling off to the hall where the guests were starting to scatter and leave. I grab an ice cold glass of champagne from the table; a spell of some sort to keep the glasses full and cold. I lean my back against a cold wall, watching everyone say their goodbyes as I sip my drink.
"Y/n, I'm heading upstairs if you wanna say bye to Corban and I'll show you to your room. I think he said he's gonna drop your stuff off tomorrow evening." I heard Draco call from the corridor near me.
"Okay, give me 5 I'll be up soon."
"Sure."
I pace over to my previous guardian, Corban Yaxley to say goodbye. I give him a quick hug, and he tells me in his scottish accent that he'll visit me and bring my things over and that if I hate it at the Malfoys I can go back to live there. Sweet I guess. I head upstairs to Draco who's with standing with Pansy drinking by the bannister and chatting about school things like Harry Potter.
"Hey Y/n, I'll show you where you're room is." I smile and nod before saying hi to Pansy. She heads downstairs to her family and I follow Draco down the winding corridors of the Manor.
"So, how are you enjoying the party?" He asks.
"Yes, it's really lovely. I can't believe how big this place is!" I exclaim as he leads through another corridor.
"This is my room, it's next door to yours. We share a lounge area, it joins our rooms together. My parents room is across the hall."
"Oh okay then." He opens the door to my room and I stare in awe at the bedroom in my sight.
"Woah." I gasp. Draco chuckles at my reaction.
"I'll be next door if you need anything - we should get a good sleep tonight, we are going out to get school supplies tomorrow morning."
"Okay, thank you for everything Draco, goodnight." I smile.
"Night Y/n. Sweet dreams."
Aw he's sweet. Wait did I just think that? Draco Malfoy is sweet? Omg. My closest friends at school were Daphne and Pansy but even then I couldn't deal with all their crap shit pureblood stuff but then again I didn't blame them for it. I sit on my bed, my dress still on me - realising I don't have a change of clothes for tonight. I took off my dress and stepped into the hot shower, drifting away with my thoughts humming a quiet tune to myself. The party had ended and I heard Malfoy mummy and daddy now in their room. I decide to go and get an outfit to sleep in from Mrs Malfoy. I step out of the warm shower and wrap myself in the thin silk bathrobe that is on the railing inside the grand bathroom, before heading off to Mr and Mrs Malfoy's room.
Narcissa was kind enough to lend me a pair of silk pyjamas which were slightly big for me but still felt comfortable. Mr Malfoy wasn't in the bedroom, I think he was working in the study downstairs. I climbed into the silk sheets and let my eyes shut, wondering many things like why everything was made of silk in this house. But most of all I couldn't stop thinking about my run in with Professor Snape earlier. Did we really have a 'moment'? Or was it in my head? Did he really 'notice' me? On purpose? Or was I reading into things too much. My thoughts slowly turn into sleep and an uneventful dream takes over for the remainder of the night.A/n - so this is chapter 1 of the story so far.
