The rest of the day went quickly. After finishing school I went to Payton's to work my shift. It's a small diner which is usually packed with people on weekends and one can earn a pretty decent tip. I enter the diner and wave at Paul. He's the owner of the diner and a really humble man. He offered me job a few months back when I had a breakdown in the diner after my dad's death. I wanted something to distract me from my miserable being and he helped me by offering me the job. It helped me keep my mind off of myself for a few hours. And his son, Adam grew fond of me eventually. My mom doesn't mind me working here. She was herself an independent woman from  the beginning and wanted the same for me. On the contrary,  she was proud of me, but still distant.

I rush to the back and change to my uniform. I white shirt with black Jeans and a black tie isn't the worst uniform one could ever wear. It's cool and brings out the curves that I have about which I'm usually a little insecure about. I shove off my thoughts and walk to the counter where I begin cleaning first. I hate the mess that the previous worker would leave behind but I never complained. I'm good at cleaning and it helps me earn some extra money. Paul couldn't stop gushing the first time I cleaned the kitchen and was happy to finally have a employee who was as hygienic as him.

The door chimes as a customer enters the diner. We aren't open yet as the closed sign hasn't been turned around. I quickly say without looking up,"sorry sir but we are closed. Lunch break isn't over yet. Please can you wait outside sir."

"No I won't missy."

I recognize that voice. Ugh, I had enough of his bull for one day and I don't have the energy to deal with him anymore.

"What are you doing here?" I cannot hide my annoyance and he seems to see that.

"Just getting some food", he shrugs his shoulders with hands I  his pockets. He sounds nervous. That's odd.

"Well as I said we are not open. You can either wait or go someplace else to grab a bite."

"Oh dear you can wait here. We'll be opening shortly and you can place your order then." Mrs. Henderson says as she walks into the diner. Adam is by her side and as soon as he spots me, he wraps his little hands around my legs, embracing me which seems like a hug. I don't complain, instead I pick him up and place him on the counter I just cleaned. He looks over my shoulder to see that I got him his favorite choco bar and tries to reach for it. "Uh uh not so fast young man. First tell me all about your day. Did you learn something new today?"

He tells me all about his newly found obsession for books and also this little girl he met at the mart while he was with Mrs. Henderson there.

"You know she wore bu jus like this." He pointed towards his blue shirt and I couldn't help but laugh at his attraction towards a girl this young age. Our generation really is weird.

I catch Mason staring me, and i quickly stop laughing. I give Adam the choco bar and he places a small kiss on my cheeks before leaving to find his mom in the back. I walk towards the door to turn the sign around.

"Are you leaving?" Mason is on this feet now just a few feet away from me. "My shift doesn't end before 6." Why am I telling him my shift timings? Something is really off with me. "Are you going to place an order or what?"

"Can you not be a bitch to me all the time?"

Woah!

"Hey! First things first, you are the one whose been on my goddamn nerves the whole time and you have the audacity to call me a bitch?! How dare you?" I glare at him, green eyes piercing into the blue.

"I'll leave now."

I'm still furious at his choice of words. Does he suffer from a disassociate identity disorder or something? One minute he's an asshole, the other he's nervous and the next he is abusing me. Who the hell he actually is?

"Where did that young man go?" Mrs. Henderson asks me and all I can say is "to hell."

....

"Hey honey, I'm home. Did you make lasagna? I'm starving." Mom enters the house while I'm almost done cleaning the kitchen.

"Yeah mom it's ready. Should I set the table?" I ask her as she washes her hands and slips out of her heels.

"Yes please."

"Mom I'm going to the brew. There's this party and William is gonna be there too."

"Yeah sure. Just be home by 11 or if you are gonna stay at William's place just dtop me text."

Ummmm okay that was easy

I had to convince my mom 4-5 business days prior to let me go to a party. But ever since dad, she's been saying yes to every thing I've been saying. She even bought those hideous curtain for my room which she hates. I shove these thoughts aside and get ready for the party. A half an hour later I'm dressed in my white knee length dress with white flats. My hair are tied in a ponytail and a little mascara over the lashes.

My mom is sitting on the couch with a glass of red wine in her right hand and a book in her left. She's been reading a lot lately mostly non fiction.

"Okay mom, I'm going and I'll text you about what I intend to do about my stay." She seems uninterested in the conversation at the time and just nods. I silently was hoping her to say something but then just left the house. I get into the car and head towards theBrew. I text William while driving about his whereabouts and he texts back instantly saying hell be there in about half an hour.

I'm parked in front of the brew and the place is already packed when I arrive. I wait for william and when I finally spot his car, I get out of mine and walk towards him.

"Let's get this party started Avaaaaa." He literally sings my name and I can't help but laugh.

May it not be as bad as I think it will be....

"Leys get this party started." The words come out of my mouth like a prayer.
