𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐇𝐎𝐋𝐄 𝐈𝐍 𝐌𝐘 heart that Marcus' friendship has left, hasn't quite healed as of yet. I still miss him, despite his betrayal. I used to spend so much time with him, especially since the Davenports and Leo tend to be too busy with their missions to also have me around.

However, I have to admit that they've tried as much as they can to include me more in their missions and make time to hang out together. Bree has come by my work several times the last two weeks, which was a nice surprise each time.

Since the play is off, I have a lot more time on my hands and have offered to take up more shifts at work. Both to get my mind off of Marcus and the play, and to earn some much needed money.

As much as I try to avoid Marcus at school, he keeps seeking me out. Thankfully, Adam tends to become a towering divider between us and sends Marcus away from me. During my classes together with him, I simply ignore him and don't talk to him, no matter how much he tries.

Thinking about him makes both my blood boil and my heart sink, but I don't even dare to be with him alone anywhere. I never thought I'd get my heart broken over a friend.

I shake the thoughts off of me as well as the dust off my jeans. It is unbelievable sometimes in what states the boxes arrive in at work. The goods and products in them are usually rather clean, but the boxes are so dusty, my light blue jeans have turned a dirty brown during my shift.

While my trust in Marcus has been shattered, the Davenports seemed to trust me more than ever when Mr Davenport gave me a key to the house. Though it might've been more because he was getting sick and tired of having to make the trips from the lab to the front door, which is understandable too.

I go down to the lab as I pat the last bits of dust off my pants. The doors glide open and as always, whenever there is no mission, they're all down in the basement. With the exception of Tasha, who seems to be the only one with a brain. I don't understand why they all always hang out down here, when there's a beautiful mansion built on top of it.

Adam and Leo are playing basketball and disturbing Mr Davenport working on another creation as they do so. Bree seems too engrossed on her phone and Chase's nose is dipped deep within one of his school books.

I slip past Adam and Leo's aggressive play and look over Chase's shoulder towards a chapter about the Civil War. This is our homework for next week, but I shouldn't be surprised that he's already working on it.

'Need a break?' I ask and turn my face towards him.

His eyes meet mine as they begin to glitter. 'I never know you're already here, but it's always a nice surprise,' he says and lays his hand on my cheek. Our lips connect, but it doesn't seem to be enough for Chase as he immediately deepens the kiss.

I smile against his lips as some mumbling behind me becomes clearer. Someone seems to be shrieking behind me and with the high pitch I'm hearing, I'm assuming it's Mr Davenport.

Chase holds onto my waist as he pulls away from the kiss to look at Mr Davenport behind me with a distracted expression. 'Hm?' he mumbles, his dreamy eyes coming back into focus.

'I need your help with something, now,' Mr Davenport orders with a roll of his eyes and walks back to his working station.

'All you have to do is ask,' Chase teases him with a proud smirk. He kisses my cheek and softly pinches in my hips, before he gets up and follows Mr Davenport to help out.

Bree puts down her phone and lets out a long, dramatic sigh. 'I wish I had a boyfriend to kiss so everyone around me would want to gag,' she mutters.

'Thanks,' I chuckle and sit with her. 'Aren't you and Ethan almost there?' I wiggle my eyebrows, which makes her laugh, but she still shakes her head.
