𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐒𝐓 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄 in my life, I've been invited to a slumber party and I actually went. I couldn't say no really. Bree's puppy eyes when she asked me to sleep over this Saturday were so sweet and sad, it would've broken my heart to not go. Besides, it's Bree. Doing anything at all with her is fun.
I was the first one to arrive and had put my sleeping bag and other belongings on the ground as Stephanie and her entourage entered. My eyes almost hurt with how hard I'm rolling them. I had no idea Bree had invited her, but she is insufferable.
'Ew Bree, what is Addilynn doing here?' Stephanie asks in pure disgust and slowly glances me up and down.
Bree frowns and holds her hands together in a prayer-like gesture. 'She's my best friend,' she answers and goes over to stand with me. 'Is there something wrong between you two?'
Stephanie smacks her hair out of her face and smooths over her sparkly, pink dress. She's loudly chewing on her gum as she rolls her eyes at me. 'She was like totally cool, until she started dating that dork, Chase. She's such a loser now,' she says and nearly seems to gag at the thought of it.
In the corner of my eye, I can see Bree looking down at her feet. I don't think she's happy with the wedge between me and Stephanie, but hearing someone else talk about that like her brother must hurt too. 'That's okay, Stephanie. I'm sure the ugly—' I slowly stare her up and down like she'd done to me earlier. '—stepsister gets a happy ending someday.'
Stephanie gasps and has to let whatever she has up in her head work for once to think of anything to say back to me. 'Shouldn't you—shouldn't you be getting rabies or something from the kissing,' she scoffs and crosses her arms defensively.
'Why? I'm not kissing you, am I?' I retort.
Before she could reply, Chase and Adam walk over to us both holding a platter with cookies. 'Hello ladies,' Chase says and I swear Bree couldn't look more annoyed. He's wearing a jacket that's way too big for him and is acting a little too suspicious for my liking. 'Can we offer you a delicious snack?'
When Caitlin takes a cookie off the tray, Chase starts to gag and grunt in pain. 'I don't feel so well,' he mutters and unzips his sweater vest. His arm, covered in what I'm assuming is red paint or something, swings out from under his jacket and he growls at Caitlin and the rest of us.
He is trying very hard, but that was a terrible prank. The only person to get scared is Adam, the one he planned the prank with. He gets so freaked out that he hides screaming behind Caitlin. 'AAH! He has a third arm!' he shouts as he flings his plate in the air. All of the cookies crash onto the floor and leave a mess.
Chase sighs deep and facepalms himself. 'Adam, we've been over this. I don't really have a third arm,' he tells Adam and defeatedly walks back to the kitchen and puts his platter down.
'I know,' Adam admits. 'It just looks so real.'
I give Bree a soft pat on her shoulder, though I have to grin. I honestly wish I had siblings sometimes, but seeing the look on Bree's face, she probably wishes the opposite right now. 'Do you want a cookie too?' I ask her and despite her annoyance, she nods.
As I walk into the kitchen and steal a cookie off of Chase's platter, he's busy cleaning his red arm. It comes off rather easy which I hadn't expected. I try so hard not to snort out my cookie when Bree smacks Stephanie in the face with a pillow in an attempt to start a pillow fight. Stephanie may not be pleased, but I personally thought that was hilarious.
