She had fallen silent to his declaration. He could tell that the gears in her head were turning. He was amused at how much thought she had to put into giving her name to find out his.
"If you won't give your real name then it looks like you don't want to know mine, " he said looking back at his paperwork. He had fallen behind on his work do to having to babysit a full-grown woman that couldn't be trusted around the money that was locked away on the boat.
"Willow, " the girl muttered.
"Pardon, " he asked looking back up at the girl across from him. He had gotten distracted by his work.
"My name it's Willow, " she repeated.
"Like that princess in the Inimore Kingdom?" He asked.
She shook her head no. He could see that she wasn't going to budge with giving an answer to that. Turning his attention back to his work he zones out until he hears Willows voice again.
"And what's your name?" Willow asked.
Not looking up from his work he answers, " it's Sawyer."
"Well, it's nice to meet you, Sawyer, " Willow said.
"Look I don't care that you know my name but there is a rule that comes with knowing it, " Sawyer said looking up at Willow.
"Okay, and what is that so-called 'rule', " Willow asked with an eye roll.
"Well for starters you can't say my name around others, you can call me anything else but not my name, " Sawyer informed.
"Okay, anything else sir grouchy?" Willow asked.
"No, and don't call me that, " Sawyer said going back to his paperwork.
"But you said I could call you anything, " Willow pointed out.
"I also said only around other people, " Sawyer informed.
"Well, what do you want me to call you when I'm around your crew or anyone else?" Willow asked.
"Well, there's captain or sir, " Sawyer said.
"But if you're going to get rid of me why would I call you either of those, " Willow said.
"I told you that I didn't know what I was going to do with you, " Sawyer pointed out.
"Yeah, but doesn't everyone that gets taken by a pirate get sold or something, " Willow asked.
"No not everyone, " Sawyer said, " if it was everyone then Doe, Joe, and Jane would not be here."
"Wait what do you mean?" Willow asked.
"Doe and Joe were brought on this boat to be sold but I saw that they would be more useful to me as part of my crew than as items being sold, " Sawyer said.
"Okay that explains some of why you have those two, " Willow said, " but that doesn't explain Jane."
"Jane is an annoyance, that has a reason for being here, " Sawyer said.
"Don't tell me that she's your personal plaything, " Willow said disgusted by the thought.
He didn't say anything he just looked up at Willow. The look he was giving her was one that told Willow she was exactly on point with her statement.
"You are gross you know that right, " Willow said.
He just went back to his work. It wasn't long before there was a knock at the door. Not getting up Sawyer just simply says, " it's open Dustin."
The door opens and Dustin takes a few steps into Sawyer's room. Dustin looked over and saw that Willow was sitting on the couch and that she was still alive even though no one enters his room unless it was an absolute must.
"I thought I told you to keep an eye on her, " Sawyer said not looking up.
"I um... I can explain, " Dustin said.
"I'm waiting, " Sawyer said looking up at Dustin who was quite terrified. Sitting back in his seat Sawyer waited for Dustin to speak.
"I was watching her then she ran off and I could find her, " Dustin explained.
"Well, apparently not well enough, " Sawyer said.
"Calm down pup, I am an export at hiding from people, " Willow said.
Sawyer and Dustin look at her as she stands from her seat. Sawyer was shocked by the little name she just gave him, while Dustin expected him to lunge at her with one of his many daggers. Watching Willow walk out the room Sawyer speaks to Dustin, " show her to a spare room."
"Sir?" Dustin questioned.
"You heard me, " Sawyer said going back to his work excusing Dustin.
Listening to Dustin's footsteps fade Sawyer could feel a smirk rest on his face.
"Let's just see how long you last kitten, " he says to himself.
