"So, what did you and River talk about?" Alyssa's voice was like an echo in my head. Why did she need to know what we talked about?

"He told me about Molly, what I already knew about her clinging to him. He also told me about the sex they had last night. Not a big deal, he cleared his chest." Alyssa grunted and cleared her throat.

"There's more to it than just that, and if River won't tell you, I will." How could Alyssa insinuate that River wasn't completely honest with me? Whatever it was, I could care less. It was probably just more drama with Molly, and that didn't concern me. I didn't want to hear anymore about what anyone had to say.

"I don't really care. Especially since it seems to be all about Molly. She doesn't scare me, and she's not my family or friend." Alyssa shook her head.

"This doesn't concern Molly. It concerns River and what he does. In fact, it concerns everyone in that group except me." I rolled my eyes. Why did Alyssa think she was better than everyone else? It wasn't fair of her to judge them all behind their backs.

"Really Alyssa? I don't want to be friends with someone who is two-faced. Especially to her friends." Her eyes widened.

"Fine, then I'll leave you alone. I won't bother you about it anymore, but don't forget that I warned you about it when you find out." I sighed. I was always being told what was so. I was sick of people treating me like a lesser person. The rest of the walk was silent to the house. My feet were already starting to hurt from the heels Alyssa had made me wear. Why did I take her fashion advice?

"Lauren..wow..you look amazing." River's voice rang through my ears followed by Molly scoffing.

"River, can we talk?" Alyssa's voice was firm, and I could tell she was mad. They walked off in a different direction. I was debating if I should follow them or not. My suspicion got the best of me. I trailed behind them far enough so they didn't notice me. I heard Alyssa's voice, and immediately stopped walking. I hid myself behind a rose bush.

"Why did you not tell her the truth, River?" I could hear him sigh.

"Because I don't want her to know yet. She can't handle it. I don't want to completely lose her."

"Please, River. We both know this isn't about losing her. You need someone else to join you because I wouldn't. I was pissed when you and your group led me on for that long without telling me. Not to mention, my ass is still on the line because you guys recorded that video. I didn't want any part of it, or this group." Alyssa was forced to stick with this group or she'd get in trouble is what I understood.

"The money is great Alyssa, and we are growing. We need at least two people to keep up with production. It's not too late to join." She sighed.

"You tell Lauren the truth. When she decides, I'll decide."

"Sounds like a plan to me." Alyssa then walked away in my direction. My mind was racing with what it could've been. I dove into the actual bushes to fully hide myself from Alyssa. Once she was out of sight, I got out of the bushes and brushed myself off. I walked towards River pretty upset that he had still lied to me. He was standing on the edge of a pool that was in the backyard. The music was quiet, and there weren't many people out there. I walked up to him.

"So, did you have a good chat with Alyssa?" He jumped once I talked. I could tell he wasn't expecting me to find him.

"Yeah, she's just mad because everything is still good between us." I cleared my throat and looked down at my feet.

"Actually River..I know you're lying. You didn't tell me everything. I'm a little hurt, I thought you trusted me. So, tell me what else is going on. Otherwise, I'm completely done." River choked on his saliva and started coughing. I had surprised him with my outburst. He looked guilty and upset.

"Great. Alyssa told you then. I'm not ready to open this information up to you." I balled my hands into fists, then released them. I needed to stay calm.

"River, tell me now." He sighed, and cleared his throat.

"Follow me." I followed him inside the house that was flooded with bodies and loud music. The smell of liquor burned my nose. He led me to a room tucked in a corner on the upstairs floor. He opened the door, and I saw his group of friends.

"River, what is she doing here?" Molly's snobby voice filled my ears. I rolled my eyes at her question and took in more of the scene. There were stacks of cash in front of everyone, and little baggies that held pills and white powder. I instantly knew, drugs.

"She is here to see the truth, and get an offer. I've been planning on inviting her to work with us." River then turned to me. My hands started sweating and I swallowed hard. What the hell was happening?

"This is our group. This is how we get through school. We have four dealers. We need two more suppliers, as we only have one now. Cocaine is a simple drug to make. We need you in the lab to watch over the plants, and add in our chemicals once the plants are ready. You're careful and strategic. What do you say?" I looked at the guy who was talking. I didn't even know his name. My throat swelled shut, and I froze. When I was able to move, I ran out of the room and as far away from the house. What the hell had I gotten myself into? I had a job, and I could afford what I needed. What they were doing was entirely wrong. How could they supply drugs to people without thinking about it?
