Going Home

Jens POV

One month later...

I was sitting cross legged on the beach watching Harry and the girls play while I relaxed.

I stared across th ocean and sighed.

Harry saw me and walked over while the girls kept building sandcastles.

He laid down and rested his head in my lap, making me giggle. I leaned down and kissed his lips softly.

'What's wrong princess? You look.. lost', he said.

'I am.. I feel pulled back to Los Angeles. Harry I realized, i'm so out of my element here. I need to sing and preform and be who I am, I feel like even though we are perfect, a piece of me is missing. I need to entertain.. and god, I need to make up with Benny. The girls have never been off this island.. Mia is six. Six years Har.. i'm getting stir crazy. This is paradise but..', I said as I ran my fingers through his hair.

'But you miss your old life. I know you do. We'll go back then. Work would be good for you', he said and rubbed my leg.

'Really? You give in that easy'?, I laughed.

'It's what you want, I want you to be happy Jennifer. I love you so much', he said as he sat up and pulled me into his arms.

'I love you too', I replied in a whisper and just rested against his chest.

'You know, I wanna go back too. I'll get a teaching job at the college.. maybe i'll sing.. it will be good', He said and kissed my head.

One month later...

We moved into a beautiful beach house in LA, Harry is becoming a very known and sought after Jazz piano artist and he teaches AP Music Theory at a local college. The girls are loving it here and Mia is enjoying school.

Today is the day, after almost 8 years, i'm going to find and talk to Benny.

I put on a pair of jean shorts with a black tank top and a open denim shirt over the top and left my hair down and natural with little makeup on and a simple pair of sandals. I looked in the mirror and smiled. I'm a far cry from what I was before I met Harry.

We matured and mellowed each other out. I showed him true love and he showed me that everything doesn't have to be so huge and public and I don't need to work to impress people and I love him for it. I'm a better person. We both are. I'm 40 now and he just turned 42.

'Hey baby, let's go', I said to Harry and we got in the car and drove to the studio. We brought the girls too.

We walked in and Harry sat in the lounge with the girls while I went to talk to Benny, who had no idea I was coming.

I knocked on his office door.

'Come in!', he yelled.

I took a deep breath and opened the door and walked in.

He looked up then did a double take.

'Jenny!?' he said as he looked me up and down.

'Yeah..', I said and could feel the tears forming already.

He got up and came over to me.

'Jen..', he said and before he could get any further I threw my arms around him.

I felt a long time weight lifted off me when I felt his arms wrap around me so tight and his face burried in my hair. I just started crying and hugged him tighter.

He released me and grabbed my shoulders.

'Jennifer, honey I am so sorry for what I said to you. I have missed you so much', he said and wiped the tears from my eyes.

'You look amazing, you're so beautiful', he said.

'Benny.. I missed you so much, you broke my heart. You've always been a dad to me... You missed so much', I said.

'I'm sorry, i'm gonna make it up to you' he said.

'And excuse me but you look mellowed out, matured, natural beauty baby... who changed you?', he added.

I swallowed hard and looked him in the eyes.

'Harry Connick Jr', I said.

'He.. what Jen?', he said, completely parplexed.

The last time he knew Harry, he was a womanizing, arrogant asshole.

'Stay here',  I said and walked out.

I picked up Mya and Harry and Mia followed me.

'Girls, you're gonna meet a really good friend of mine', I said to them and we all walked into his office.

Benny's mouth dropped and I saw a tear fall from his eye when he saw the girls.

'Jennifer...', he said but could'nt form any words.

'Benny, This is Mia, Mya and Harry... my husband', I said.

He just wiped his eyes and the girls ran over to the piano.

He grabbed my hand and pulled me out and shut the door.

We leaned against the wall and looked at me.

'Jennifer.. you two really were in love. I'm so sorry', he said.

'Benny, its okay', I said and laughed through my tears.

'Has he been good to you?', he asked.

'In every way.. He's the most amazing man on the Earth. He treats me like a man should treat a woman. Benny, we've been through hell. He saved me from death more than once and a while back he was in an accident and was in a coma. He had to learn to walk again and it took so long. I've been sick too, my heart. I almost died.. two miscarriages, deep depressions and he was always there, taking care of me no matter what, Benny you would love him.. I'm begging you, please give im a chance, he's my whole life', I practically sobbed.

He turned and walked back in the room, grabbed Harry and bear hugged him.

'Thank you. I can never repay you for taking care of and loving Jennifer. She's a daughter to me and I can never say sorry enough to you both. Thank you for making her happy', he said and let him go.

I walked over and just buried my face in Harry's chest, crying happy tears.

He rubbed my back and kissed my head.

'It's finally okay', I said and wiped my eyes as he hugged me from behind.

Harry looked at Benny and smiled.

'I love this woman so much. Nothing will ever hurt her and I can swear on my life on that one', he said to Benny.

I just leaned back against Harry and sighed in relief.

'So.. I missed you getting married, and I missed two kids. When are you two having more?', Benny said.

I looked up at Harry and his grip tightened around my waist as he smiled.

I giggled and looked in Harry's eyes.. 'Soon.. very soon', I said softly and Harry kissed me.

'Great... but not here!', Benny laughed.

'Oh and one more thing..', Benny said.

'Hmm?', I replied.

'The world needs Jennifer Lopez back'...
