"new me"

{ ryan's pov }
imagine, your best friend just told you he loved you. thinking you were asleep, and he has a girlfriend. a lot to wrap around your head, right? but then i remember, that just a happened to me..

after i heard ashton leave i immediately sat up in my bed. not even slightly tired anymore. what just happened was crazy, but i couldn't talk to ashton about it because he thought i was sleeping.. right?

and i couldn't talk to anyone about it. at least not any of my friends.

i stayed up the rest of that night, watching Netflix. hoping that that would take my mind off it. Zaria was still not back from wherever she was. i was thinking she stayed with one of the guys. i didn't fret about it i just minded my own business. i watched as my clock hit 7:00 a.m. which means i had to start getting ready. i put on a pink sweater and light blue jeans. i head out of my dorm to go see my friends before class.

i knocked on luke and ashton's door and no one answered. as i made it up to micheal and calum's dorm i see the door is half open. i peak my head through the door and see that no one is there.

what? i question to myself.  as i close the door and keep walking i get a text from my mom.

Evelyn: hey honey, how was Montgomery's first day there?
ryan: good i hope, i haven't heard from him since i helped him move in
Evelyn: oh okay well tell him to call me soon, love you both talk to you soon
ryan: love you too mom, i will let him know

(Evelyn is Ryan and Montgomery's mother's name.)

as i was walking i come upon monty's door. i knock at the connivence that i was just talking about him. nothing happens so i knock again. i hear voices but once i knocked everything went silent. the doorknob slowly starts to turn but then stops. i hear a voice..

"SHH" the voice whispered loudly.

the door finally opens and monty peaks his head through the door.

"oh, Ryan.." he stutters. "you're up early." he looks nervous and looks back and fourth.

"yeah idiot it's 7:15 i have to be up for class." i say rolling my eyes. he starts moving the door back and forth tediously.

"oh yeah right.."

"is something going on." i ask while crossing my arms. he takes a deep breath.

"shit." he says exhaustedly. he opens the door and i see all of my friends crammed together in the room. they hung out without me? ashton hung out with me and then left for this. what.

"did y'all have a party without me or something." i say painfully. i wanted to be upset but i didn't really care that much, but at the same time i did.

"what? oh no, we were just talking to monty about a few things." Calum says rushingly. Luke rubs his neck and looks at me with sorry eyes. i just listened to what Calum had said and left it at that.

"hm." i walk into the room and take a seat on a bed next to Michael and Calum. while Zaria Luke and ashton were on the bed across from us.

"anyways, as i was saying." calum says unexpectedly.

"you need to learn how to not care monty, just go with the flow. that's what i always do" he says with a smirk. i can't help but laugh at what Calum has just said.

monty just sits there looking clueless. he's never been the type to go out of his way for a girl. he usually stayed in his room and read. boring, i know. but hey atleast he was smarter than i was at his age. which he is only one year younger.. i have no idea why my brother was worried about girls. he had only had one girlfriend in his life, that i know about. they dated for about 5 months but ended up breaking up after he found out she was in a relationship with some hot jock the entire time, just using monty for his smarts and shit. if anything i didn't think they were that serious, hence he didn't seem surprised when he found out she 'cheated'.
