Sawamura Daichi - Confessions

It’s been a while since you moved to your uncle’s home and took over the shop. There were times that your grandma would let you off the hook and let you wander around the place. It was a breath of fresh air compared to the polluted one in the city.

You love many things about Miyagi and your personal favorite was the Karasuno volleyball team. In the few months you’ve met them, they have visited you a lot after their practice and your uncle sometimes let you watch them practice.

One particular person you like was none other than the team captain, Sawamura Daichi. You were interested in him from the start, yes – but you did not expect to actually like him as a man. Maybe it was due to your uncle’s constant comments about you blushing and stuttering when it’s Daichi you’re talking too. Or maybe just because he’s your type. One thing you’re sure of, you are always overjoyed when he’s the one in front of you.

Daichi likes you - that was clear to the other third years, including Kiyoko. There were many times they see him stealing glances at you and smile afterwards.

They also noticed how more frequently they’ve bought different food and stuffs in the shop just to make an excuse of seeing you.

It was only a matter of time before they went away for the summer camp and they wanted him to confess to you.

“Why would I do that?” he asked.

“Daichi, don’t be so dense. You know you like her.” Sugawara slapped him on the back.

They shooed the underclassmen away so that they will not interrupt.

Daichi sighed. “Y-yeah... I think I do. But I’m sure she doesn’t feel the same way. I can’t just walk up to her and confess like that.”

“Man up, Daichi! I expected this in Asahi but not in you!” Suga scolded while Asahi scrunched his face. ‘Why did you have to involve me.’ He muttered.

“Oh, Daichi-san! Suga-san and Asahi-san.” Daichi did not flinch like the two did, but the captain blushed. He blushed and it was a rare sight.

He was actually frozen as he watched you greet them with your pretty smile.

“What are you gonna buy today? I think you’ve bought every type of bread now.” You chuckled.

“Oh, I forgot something from Kiyoko-san. I should get going now! Asahi, come with me. I don’t wanna walk alone.”

Sugawara apologized to you and both of them said goodbye.

“Oookay, is it me or are they actually acting weird?” you asked and saw Daichi staring at you. You blinked and released a nervous chuckle. You were alone with the person you like, how can you not?

“Aren’t you acting weird too?” you asked Daichi who blinked at your question.

“O-oh... well--“ he brushed his hand at the back of his neck. “There’s something I wanna tell you, (Y/N)-chan.”

You blushed. He usually used ‘-san’.

You watched him and noticed his posture... he wasn’t the usual confident and manly aura right now. It was still there but you can see shyness surrounding him. You don’t understand but you started to conclude that he’s going to confess or something.

“W-what is it?” you stuttered.

“I kinda want to ask you--”

“I LIKE YOU TOO!” you squeaked in surprise.

His eyes widened and so were yours.

You let his cut sentence run through your head. He wasn’t gonna say he likes you! You scolded yourself mentally and it was like you blew a fuse.

“H-huuh?” Daichi was absolutely shocked.

If the ground could swallow you, it was the best time.

“I-I m-mean. Nng... I-I t-thought y-you...” you covered your face in embarrassment and fell down as you buried your face in your knees.

“T-that was a s-stupid thing to say.” you covered your face.

You him walking towards you and your heart only beat faster. When you felt his hand over the top of your head, you don’t understand but you suddenly felt relaxed.

You heard him chuckle and you were sure he was crouching down to level his face to yours, but you did not meet his eyes yet and continued to bury your face.

“I-if it makes you feel better then let me finish my sentence first.”

“I was actually gonna ask you out on a date first before saying I like you, but you beat me to it.”

You instantly raised your head and looked at him with wide eyes.

“Well then, let’s go!” you laughed, all the embarrassment from before already gone.

He blinked for a second and laughed at your sudden change of mood. He smiled sweetly at you and took your hand to entwine his fingers with yours.

“You don’t know how much I wanted to do this.” He chuckled while looking at your entwined hands.

“I think I get the idea.” You giggled, knowing what it feels like to hold back.
