Sugawara Koushi - Confessions

His best friend’s little sister. That’s what he thinks of you. You buried your face on your desk while you dramatically let your whole being succumb to the gloom. Classes were already dismissed but you and Yachi stayed inside the classroom.

“(Y/N)-chan... a-are you ok?” Yachi was already panicking.

“Noooo! Gwaaaah. Hitoka-chan. I’m just his best friend’s little sister.” You cried while shaking the blonde’s shoulders.

“W-wait! Are you talking about... S-sugawara senpai?”

You nodded glumly. You have fallen for the silver-haired boy ever since the first time he visited your house. He was so kind and sweet that his very presence became something that seems so calming for you. Only Yachi knows of your feelings for the boy. You became close friends when she joined the boy’s volleyball team as the first year manager. You on the other hand was a member of another club (although you regret not joining the volleyball club).

“I really... really like him, Hitoka-chan. And I only have half a year before he leaves for college.”

“Are you going to confess?”

“I want to.”

Yachi held your hands together and looked at you with determined eyes – although she was shaking.

“I’m rooting for you, (Y/N)-chan!”

You teared up from her encouragement.

“Thank you, Hitoka-chan. But... I don’t think he’ll accept me like that. Just yesterday he even called me little sis.” You pouted but Yachi shook her head.

“I-I think he likes you too!!!”

Your eyes widened and your face glowed up.

“Really??? You’re not just saying that to make me feel better?”

“No! I-I always catch him looking at you and he’s always smiling.”

“Why didn’t you tell me sooner?”

“I wasn’t so sure before but now I am!”

Later that day, Daichi raised an eyebrow at Sugawara who seemed bothered by something.

“What’s bothering you, Suga?”

“E-eh?? Nothing.” He denied but his red face gave it away. Daichi was surprised by his friend’s behaviour but if Suga doesn’t feel like speaking about it, he will not push him.

Sugawara was flustered. Very flustered that he couldn’t focus. Kiyoko was looking for Yachi earlier and since he wanted to see you, he volunteered to look for Yachi. Upon arriving outside the two girls’ classroom, he overheard their conversation and it started from Yachi mentioning his name.

He was so surprised that even though he wanted to run away to avoid eavesdropping, his feet stopped when he heard you say you liked him and was planning on confessing to him. Another surprise was that Yachi noted how he looked at you during practice. Sugawara was so embarrassed and nervous on what was to come that after hearing that, he ran with beet red face towards the gym.

“Sugawara-senpai.”

The vice-captain jumped after hearing your voice.

“H-hey, (Y/n). ‘Sup?” sup?!

“C-can I talk to you outside?”

Oh no! Already?!

Sugawara looked around and since no one was looking their way, especially Daichi who he wouldn’t want to hear whatever you were gonna say, he nodded and pulled you away somewhere far from earshot.

You blushed while looking at his hand holding yours.

“H-here. We can talk here.” He said while glancing back.

“Are you alright, senpai? Why do you look nervous?” you asked innocently which made him stop from fidgeting so much.

“Oh, no no. I’m n-not. I’m alright. W-what were you gonna say again?” He wanted to pinch himself for being so lame in front of you. And why were you so calm?!

“Oh, ok. Well....” you took a deep breath and looked him straight in the eye, both of your cheeks blushed with pink. “I like you, Sugawara-senpai. I liked you ever since you showed up in our house. P-please go out with me! I love you!”

Sugawara did not know what to do. His heart felt like punching a hole out of his chest and his face so hot that he wanted to drink something cold. He likes you too. He loves you but... pull yourself together, Koushi!! This is your best friend’s sister!

“(Y-y/n)-chan... We can’t. I-I can’t...” Sugawara looked down, not wanting to see your hurt expression.

“Is it because of Nii-chan?? Does he not approve?? But you like me, do you?” you may seem conceited but the truth is, you also felt something from him. You weren’t sure before but you felt he did have feelings for you too and Yachi’s statement had confirmed your hopes.

“I— I do like you, (Y/n). But I don’t want to betray your brother’s trust. He doesn’t even know I like you.”

“Then let’s not tell him.”

“E-Eh?? I just told you I don’t want to betray his—”

“I mean, we’ll tell him eventually... but not right now. Please, Senpai. I-I don’t want you to leave Karasuno without having the chance to be with you.”

You looked at him with such pleading eyes that he couldn’t help himself. He covered his face with the back of his hand, trying to hide how hot it he was feeling at the moment.

“(Y/n)-chan...”

You looked at him hopefully as he removed his hand from his face.

Screw it. I want her to be happy.

“Ok. L-let’s date.” he finally said with a genuine smile.

Your face suddenly lit up sending flutters to the boy’s heart.
