joнnnyѕ pov: it was four fivety eight pm; I was told to not be late and i made sure i wasn't.
it was only two minutes, but it's still early.
i don't want this punishment to be extended any longer, maybe annie will talk to our principal and see if he'll shorten it.
my schedule is really tight with soccer and now tutoring, i don't really have the time to put effort into this activity. it's just taking time away from when i could be on the field.
i walk across the field and see annie, she kind of tripped out on me yesterday. i think i know why, but i don't want to assume things.
but after what happened yesterday i don't know what's going through her head.
she waves towards me
so i start to walk over to her.
i wasn't planning on avoiding her i just have no idea what to say to her.
a: hey
she say smiling handing me a yellow t-shirt and a clip board.
j: what's this?
a: we have to take roll and that is the leader shirt.
j: i get a leaders shirt?
a: yeah, there's only two of us, so people are gonna need to spot up when there's an issue.
j: why do you take this so serious.
a: my brother was a leader.
she say while turning around folding blue shirts.
a: everyone loved when he did it and it was passed on to me. he brought me when i was too young to join and we'd do it together. it means a lot to me.
j: so you grew up with it.
a: pretty much.
she continues folding shirts, but i wanted to bring up yesterday.
i know it's not my business, but i feel a little weird just leaving everything unsaid.
j: about your brother.
she freezes for a minute.
a: uh yeah.
j: is that why you cancelled yesterday, because it was the day he passed away.
a: who told you that?
j: uhm one of the boys on the team.
a: which one?
j: are you mad?
a: i'm not smiling.
j: well i'm not gonna say it and give you another reason to be upset.
a: uhm i feel like i have a right to know.
j: carson.
a: figures, that's something private i didn't want to share with you, and he had no right to say anything about it.
j: he said they were good friends.
a: "were" being the key word, that's a personal family issue, he shouldn't feel the need to says anything about it.
i understand, i wouldn't like it either.
j: why didn't you want me to know?
a: we've known each other for two weeks, i'm sorry if i didn't want to share the most devastating thing that has happened to me.
j: i didn't mean it like that-
a: i know and i don't mean to trip out, but it's just i don't tell anyone about that.
j: we're friends though.
a: barely johnny. i promise you know nothing about me.
j: i know you're really smart, i know you're a gymnast-
a: that's not what i mean. the version you see of me at school, isn't the same person outside of that environment.
j: then we should hang out, and i'll get to understand you better.
a: uh i don-
j: perfect we can go ice skating, right after here.
a: i don't know how to ice skate.
j: i used to play hockey i can teach you.
a: sounds like a plan.
j: great
she rolls her eyes.
a: put your shirt on loser.
