You panted, trying to catch your breath. Hippolyta urged you to grab your sword again. Why can't I just sleep-in for once? You sighed. Grabbing your sword, you got up from the ground. You jumped a little as a way to warm up for Hippolyta's next attack. Once she did, you started to go on the defensive.
The point of today's lesson was to not move from your spot. If Hippolyta is able to make you take a step back, you are to run a mile as a penalty. You'd ran four miles so far.
The two swords clashed again. The feelings in your legs were starting to go numb. Beads of sweat fell from your temple. You could feel Hippolyta putting all of her weight into crushing you. The urge of just giving up was really tempting to you right now. No. I can't run another gods-forsaken mile. Mustering the remaining of your strength, you started to push back.
The corners of Hippolyta's lips lifted into a smirk. You were so focused on keeping your ground that you hadn't noticed the flames in your hair igniting. Hippolyta tightened her hold on her sword, her biceps flexing, as she continued to push you down. You gritted your teeth. Roots came out of the ground beneath you, wrapping themselves around your ankles and feet in order to keep you steady.
"You're cheating" Hippolyta glared.
"No" You smirked. "I'm being resourceful"
With that, you managed to push the woman away. She wiped away the sweat on her forehead. The glare in her eyes disappeared at your comment. She nodded her head, smiling at you. She lunged at you yet again. This time was different though. Instead of just attacking by the front, she started to attack you all around.
You continued to dodge her attacks. It was getting tiring after a while. You could feel your power draining. The flames in your hair were starting to flicker into nothing more but a spark while the roots were starting to lose their grip. Eventually, all of the tiredness you were feeling was starting to get to you and you ended up taking a mindless step backwards. Hippolyta's blade grazed your arm just as you fell backwards.
"That makes it one to five" Hippolyta spun her sword in her hand before sheathing it. She let out a sigh while looking at you lying on the ground in defeat. "That's enough for today"
"Does that mean I don't have to come back later tonight?" You groaned.
"No. We'll continue this tomorrow in the morning" Hippolyta turned around to leave. "I suggest you heal that cut on your arm before your training session with Hestia"
You were too tired to even give her a thumbs-up as a response. You could hear the sound of Hippolyta's horse running off. Taking heavy breaths, you closed your eyes. A few minutes of shut-eye wouldn't hurt.
Ring Ring Ring
I'm experiencing some deja vu right now. You sighed. Forcing yourself to get up, you walked over to where you placed your things. You grabbed your phone. "Hello"
"You're late" Hestia's voice came over from the other line. "You were suppose to be here an hour ago"
"No, I'm not" You checked the time. There was a slight sting on your arm every time you move it. "We usually meet in an hour from now"
"Yes, but you said you were going to help me with eternal flame last week - and you know how long that takes. That's why we planned on meeting up earlier"
"Shoot. Gods. I totally forgot about that" You immediately started to pack your things. "I'm so sorry. I'm on my way"
"You could tell me your excuse when you get here"
"Yes. Again, I'm so sorry"
----
You teleported yourself to Zeus' home. The nymphs greeted you with a smile, but you could still hear their whispers about your current state. You don't blame them. You didn't have the time to take a shower so you were covered in dirt and sweat. The cut you had on your arm stopped bleeding, but it had left a stain on your jacket sleeve and the stinging was still there.
