The warm glow of the summer sun shone down onto my half-tanned skin as I traced the edges of the railing, for it was the final chance for me to do so.

"Haruto!" A petite girl ran in my direction, face pulled into a beam. Her hair glowed brown in the sunlight as her two pleats bounced with every step.

"I-" I felt her cheerful presence all around me, and halted in my speech. "I'm here to say goodbye, Kari."

"Huh? What do you mean?" Akari asked, stumped. I don't want to hurt her. But I have to.

"Akari, I have to move." I took in a deep breath. I had to lie to her. I didn't have a choice. She couldn't find out. About anything.

Akari's smile was instantly erased as she frowned. "Why? Haruto, we grew up together! You can't go anywhere without me, and I can't stay here without you. Can't you stay?! Why are you going?" I can't tell her. I couldn't tell her about Asahi.

"I-I've got to go now." I shuffled my feet and forced myself to move. "You haven't answered my question!" Akari exclaimed. "I'm sorry Akari," I muttered under my breath as I turned away and ran.

"I'm really sorry," my voice broke as I choked on the tears longing to stream down my cheeks.

"Haruto!" she called behind me. "Ruto!" And that was the first time I hurt her. The time I completely broke her. I left her in the dark, and never said anything else.

I bent my head slightly and stepped into my father's car. Instantaneously, the little drops of salted water, popularly known as tears, dotted the car seat below me. I cried, because of Akari. For the first time ever.

[time skip]

13 year-old Asahi Hamada walked cautiously with his father towards the man standing under the dark night sky.

He was used to this; used to risking his life with his father. His father was a kind and generous man. He donated much money to the charitable organisations, but nobody knew where he got all the money from. Until, a nosy reporter dug out the truth. He embezzled the money from his company, earned by those who worked day and night, a selfish yet kind act, completely controversial.

In order to keep the reporter's mouth shut, Asahi's father bribed the reporter, forcing him and his family to move abroad, where the reporter would never have a chance to expose him anymore. The man and his child turned around to face Asahi and his father, who had a stash of money in his hands. Not a stash, but 246 billion won. The reporter and his child were leaving tonight.

"Why did you bring your child?" Hansuke Watanabe asked as he looked down towards 13 year-old boy. "None of your business, take the money and go," Asahi's father growled. Asahi diverted his eyes to the ground. He never understood his father's intentions, was it to do good, or go against all legal rules? Hansuke Watanabe's son, Haruto Watanabe, was actually his classmate.

"Don't be rude to my father," Haruto snapped.

Asahi and Haruto used to be friends, but with the Watanabes and the Hamadas at an economic war, they cut off all contact with each other and soon became enemies. "Whatever, is this enough?" Asahi's father handed Hansuke Watanabe the envelope. As Hansuke counted the money note by note, he sighed and nodded.

Hansuke had no choice. The only one suffering was Haruto. He couldn't bear to leave his school, leave his country, much less leave Akari. And he would never ever lift his grudge off Hamada Asahi.
