Akari's POV

"If you only you would give me a chance, Akari," Asahi sighed.

I would, Asahi, but I don't want to hurt you...

< Next day >

I shook my head as breathed in. "Just act like nothing happened, there's no need to be awkward with Asahi." I glanced at my reflection as I held up my fist and whispered, "Fighting!"

God I'm so weird.

I hopped onto my bicycle, bid goodbye to my mother, and started cycling to school.

"Akari!" It was Haruto.

Oh god. Run while you can Akari!

I turned my bicycle and cycled in the opposite direction.

"Hey! Wait!" Haruto yelled behind me as he stopped my bicycle.

I chuckled awkwardly as I turned around, "Yes?"

"Are you still mad at me?" Haruto asked.

"Haruto-" I sighed.

"Please. Give me a chance! I'm sorry for what I did, I really like you. And I need you." Haruto pleaded.

So now you're apologising?

"Please? I'm sorry," Haruto touched my hand as I twitched at his touch.

Haruto backed away at my response.

"Can you...Can you give me some time? I know it's hard for you, but I really need time," I mumbled softly as he nodded.

"Yeah...See you at school," he scowled and walked away.

I rubbed my temples in distress. I couldn't forget how he shouted at me that day. I couldn't forget what he said about me. I couldn't...

I couldn't decide between Asahi and Haruto.

I felt hot tears emerging from my eyes as I sighed.

No, not now...I can't cry now!

"HEY! WATCH OUT!" I heard someone scream.

An arm grabbed me from my bicycle and I fell on the ground, cringing from the pain in my head.

"Akari!" Someone screamed as I touched my head. A dot of blood stained my finger as I groaned.

Head...bleeding...

"Akari hang in there please!" The same person yelled. Haruto?

"Hold on to me! I'll get you to the school's doctor, we're almost there..." Haruto piggy-backed me as I held my head in frustration.

Why was I letting him save me...

"I don't like you Watanabe! You cheated on me! Let me go!" I smacked his back as my eyelids felt heavy.

"Akari, please! I need to bring you to school!" Haruto dashed and yelled.

"Hang in there..." Haruto panted as sweat ran down his back.

"Why," I touched my head. "Are you trying so hard?"

"Because..." Haruto said in between pants. "Because I love you Akari."

Lies. These were just lies!

Then, my eyes closed.

Haruto's POV

"Akari?" I screamed. "Akari!" I yelled between pants.

"Shit," I cursed and ran faster.

I ran out of breath every second but I couldn't give up. I had to save Akari. As I reached the school, I dashed to the office.

"Can someone help please?!" I screamed as the staff looked at me, shocked.

"Please! She got into an accident! Where's the nurse? Please, someone help her!" I shouted as the nurse took Akari to the resting room.

I followed her there but she closed the door on me.

"You should wait outside." She instructed.

"Will she be okay? She has to be, miss! She's my friend," I stuttered, at a loss on how to help Akari. The nurse nodded as she escorted me out.

I paced around the room as Asahi stumbled into the office.

"IS SHE OKAY?" He yelled as he shook me repeatedly.

"I don't know...She's still inside," I sighed.

"Was it you? Was it you that made her get into an accident? Or did you hit her? Huh? Tell me!" Asahi threw a punch at me suddenly.

"Asahi. Asahi, chill," Ye Dam held him back as I touched my face. Blood.

"I don't know Hamada! I just saw almost get into an accident and I tried to save her, but she still got hurt," I muttered as I backed away, unable to retaliate.

"It better not be you," Asahi said through gritted teeth as he yanked Ye Dam's hand off him.

The nurse's door opened suddenly as Asahi and I ran up to her.

"Is she okay?" I asked.

"Is she alright? Please tell me she's fine," Asahi asked at the same time.

"She's okay...Luckily, there were no internal injuries. She has to get stitches. Bring her back during lunch break. You can visit her now but don't do anything to anger her." The nurse told us before we rushed in.

"Akari!" Asahi and I yelled in unison.

"Are you okay?" I ran forward and placed my hand on her forehead.

She smiled slightly before answering, "Yeah, thank you Haruto."

She knew?

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean all the things I said on the way here...I was just-" Akari tried to explain.

"It's okay Kari, as long as you're safe," I pulled her into my arms as Asahi coughed.

Akari pulled back and turned to Asahi, "Thanks Sahi, I'm okay."

Asahi and her avoided eye contact as she blushed after Asahi smiled in return.

Jealousy built up in me as I mumbled, "Asahi, do you mind if I speak to Akari alone for awhile?"

Asahi's smile faded but he agreed and left the room.

"Akari...About us, if you really can't forgive me, that's okay. But I really hope we stay friends. When I saw you just now, I was so worried. What if I couldn't see you again? What if I couldn't go on a trip with you? What if I couldn't bungee jump with you? Remember all the things we wanted to do together when we were young?"

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry for everything. For leaving, for flirting with other girls. I finally understand how much you mean to me Akari. Those girls...I never actually cared about them. They were just flings. But you...you mean so much to me. I just can't lose you. I'm sorry if I come off as desperate, but I need you. You're not pathetic, I don't know why I ever said that."

"I-" I sighed as I felt tears gathering.

Men don't cry...

I looked away as Akari got up slowly.

"Haruto, look at me," Akari muttered.

"I can't forgive you."

"Because I never blamed you. I'm still yours."
