Asahi's POV

"Really? You're not gonna explain why you're doing this?" Ye Dam glanced at me expectantly. 

He leaned against the wall in my room and folded his arms. Hyun Suk was busy so he made Ye Dam check on me on his behalf. 

"No," I insisted.

Ye Dam's lips straightened into a fine thin line as he sighed, "Yeah, whatever. Can't be bothered with you. After what you did to Akari."

I traced the edges of my bangs. 

"I don't know what game you're playing, but I sure hope this ends soon Asahi," Ye Dam trudged out of my room as I slumped down on my bed. 

Akari's POV

"Ruto, please just go," I heard Sana urge Haruto as he approached me cautiously.

I scowled and walked the other way but Haruto gripped my wrist and turned me around. 

"Kari can we talk?" Haruto asked. 

"For you to tell your pity story so I'll forgive you? I'll pass," I chuckled.

"No. I need you to find your own happiness, just like I've found mine," Haruto explained. 

I glanced at Sana, who bit her lip and flashed me a pitiful look. I couldn't bear to break off my friendship with her whether or not Haruto was in the entire story anyways. 

"You have 5 minutes," I stated. 

"I know I'm a little too reckless to be the one telling you this, but, have you ever wondered if we really like each other?" Haruto inquired. 

"I'm positive we do. Or at least I do." 

"But that's a lie and you know it Akari," he seemed to have read my thoughts. 

"I have seen the way you look at Asahi. I just want you to be happy, you know that right?" Haruto lifted his eyebrows. 

"I know," I lied. 

"No you don't. You're holding back because of me. I was holding back because of you. We never liked each other Akari. We were meant to be...friends. Best friends. We were best that way. Don't you remember?" Haruto blurted out as I shifted nervously.

He knew my true feelings? 

"Why did you think I got together with Sana? Because I wanted to make you jealous? Because I hated seeing you with Asahi? Because I was a jerk — well I kind of am one anyways," he chuckled as I couldn't help but laugh. 

"Akari," Haruto took my hands. "We both know dating each other is a highway road to nowhere. I really hope, you can think through this. Asahi's close to engagement with a random girl he hardly knows. And you're the only one who can save him." 

He pulled me into a hug as he embraced me tightly. "See how we can hug without feeling awkward now?" he smiled as I nodded, trying to resist the urge of tearing up and spouting out all my problems. 

To my best friend. I love that label. And I hope it'll stay like that forever. 

"Come here!" I yelled as Sana joined our hamburger hug. 

"I missed you," I teared up as Sana hugged me tightly.

She sobbed on my shoulder, "I missed you too Akari." 

"Sana didn't eat for days after you left angrily that day." Haruto explained. 

"Why?!" I demanded. "I'm sorry," I melted into Sana's arms again as she smiled, "Don't be Akari Yoshida. I love you no matter what." 

"I want you to get your guy back right this moment. And slap him on my behalf when you do," Sana giggled as I rolled my eyes. 

"I'm serious!" Sana teased. 

"Sure," I flung an arm over Sana as Haruto followed us closely behind.

"Sooooo...ramen?" Sana asked. 

"It's a date," I smiled.

It felt great to be back.
