(song of the chapter: don't wanna cry - seventeen, this is my comfort song :,D)

"You know you're such a jerk- Achoo!" I sneezed as Asahi wrapped a blanket over me.

"Kari that's the twentieth time you have said that," Asahi slumped down beside me.

"Yeah and I'm gonna keep repeating that until you tell me why you just left the other day," I pouted.

"Akari," Asahi took my hands. "Don't be foolish, did you really think I could ever stop loving you?" He stared into my eyes.

I searched his eyes for a more detailed explanation as he sighed.

"I had no choice Kari. I didn't want you to...You even confessed to me the other day. And Ruto, he was dating Sana, everything was a huge mess. I wanted to be there for you. I wanted to be the shoulder you could cry on." He looked down.

"But my father's company had gone into bankruptcy, he forced me to meet up with this girl, her name is Momo. I...I couldn't afford to hurt you Akari, you know that," his expression softened.

"I...I lied to you. I wanted you to forget me. Let me go. So you could find somebody else. I know it was selfish, I know I was being a jerk-" he blurted.

"Asahi Hamada," I raised his chin with my fingers.

"Did you ever think I could forget you? You still owe me so much. From the day you sent Haruto away, you owed me everything I wanted."

"And I want you Asahi. There's no one else I need. As long as you're here with me," I pinched his cheek.

"I'm sorry Kari," he embraced me warmly as I patted the back of his head.

"I don't blame you. I never did," I choked.

"You know," Asahi pulled out a tiny box out of his pocket. "I was waiting for the right moment. Until...there was no time left. But I couldn't muster up my courage to ask you."

He opened the box.

My jaw dropped

My jaw dropped.

"You..." I stuttered.

"Be my girlfriend."

"Sahi, you know I love you..." I sighed. "But, I really hope you can sort things out with your father. I don't want you guys to have a crippled relationship just because of this," I explained.

Asahi pouted as he sulked, "You know, sometimes I really hate you for being too nice."

I giggled slightly and he neatened my fringe, pulling me to the train station.

Asahi's POV

I waved goodbye to Akari as I turned towards my house.

Sighing, I stepped in, coming face to face with my father who's face was scrunched up. He wore a sour look on his face as he folded his arms.

"Where have you been?" He demanded.

"You wouldn't wanna know," I stated bluntly and rolled my eyes.

He shook with rage as he warned, "I am still your father, son."

"Yeah?" I chuckled sarcastically.

I stepped forward. "If you are my father, or was my father, then why can't I make my own decisions. You never let me decide anything dad!"

He furrowed his eyebrows, "Are you telling me I'm a control freak?"

"Dad," I arranged my fringe, flustered. "Have you ever wondered...if I ever liked, much less loved Momo Hirai?"

"Marriage isn't something you do when you're in love," my father looked away and muttered coldly.

I scoffed. "So it's something you only do when you are in need of a saviour for your dying company?" I growled through my gritted teeth.

"You son of a b-" He raised his fist as I pressed my hand onto his shaking fist, preventing him from hitting me.

"I never had a choice dad!" I screamed. I, myself, is now shaking with anger, rage, hatred, and so many other things.

He lowered his fist slowly.

"You decided everything for me! What I wear, what I eat, who I hang out with, where I go! You even made me your stinky little minion when I was young! Did you really think I liked any of that?! Did you think it was beneficial for you to bring your thirteen-year-old kid to meet some strangers who you blackmailed?!" I blurted out.

"Did you really think..." my voice trembled. "I enjoyed any of that?!"

His eyes seemed to have found a meaning in the words that I had shouted out.

"Did you ever think, I could give up Akari?" Immediately, his eyes flared up in anger.

"Stop talking about that stupid, poor, dumb girl!" He yelled.

Wrong move, dad.

"Shut up." I growled, my fists balling up.

"She isn't any girl. She is my girlfriend," I menaced through it.

"You-" I ignored him and turned around, heading for the door.

"Don't come back until you have made a wiser choice!" My father screamed behind me.

"I think it's better if you called me once you actually wonder if anything you did made me smile. Ever." I broke down but resisted faltering.

I had to stay strong.

For Akari.

"ASAHI!"

"SON?!"

I was running.

But I didn't know where to next.

I love you dad. I still do.

I always do.
