Chapter 14

Wolffe was stressed. Stressed for what Comet was going through, stressed because he learned one of his brothers killed a Jedi and stressed because of whatever Fives was explaining to him right now. Wolffe's mind couldn't take it but he continued to listen to Fives for his sake. Whatever Fives was talking about was important but he couldn't believe it. It didn't make any sense to him but there was proof and that was what made it true and Wolffe felt betrayed. He hated whoever had done this to him and the rest of his brothers.

He also hated being trapped into an empty supply closet on Kamino with Fives while they talked about the purpose of these inhibitor chips.

"Wait. So those inhibitor chips or whatever is used to control us?" Wolffe asked, holding one of the chips in his hand and glaring at it.

Fives nodded his head. "Yeah, that doesn't make me feel great about it. I don't really understand the whole entire idea of the chips. But whatever it is it's bad."

Wolffe sighed. "You took the chip out of your head. I want you to take the chip out of my head, and the rest of the Wolfpack's. I don't want them to kill the Jedi if that's the reason for these chips. Okay, Fives? We will find out the reason for these chips, together. We can't tell anyone though because if the Kaminoans find out they will kill us.

"Can I at least tell the Jedi? I mean Tup killed a Jedi and if that's the purpose of the chips then we need to tell the Jedi!" Fives tried.

Wolffe looked at Fives for a second before responding. "Fine. Tell General Skywalker and Rex, but no one else. Most people can't be trusted, and-"

"What about General Plo Koon? Aren't you going to tell him about the chips? I mean he is your buir!" Fives exclaimed interrupting Wolffe.

Wolffe grimaced and made a sad expression that Fives couldn't figure out. He looked at the floor before looking back at Fives with a pained expression. "General Buir doesn't want to know anything about his death. If this is how he dies then he wouldn't want me telling him. I will honor his decision but if you tell General Skywalker then everything should be fine. Just-"

"What about Chancellor Palpatine? He could help us figure this out." Fives tried just as Wolffe growled.

"No. According to Buir, there's a Sith Lord in the Senate. There's a good chance that the Chancellor could bring up the chips in the senate. If he did then the Sith Lord could use the chips to his advantage. I also think that the Sith had the idea of the chips and is using us against the Republic and Jedi." Wolffe growled. "Also-"

"Okay, then. How about Commander Fox from the Coruscant Guard? He could help us, don't you think?" Fives asked as he interrupted Wolffe again.

"Would you please quit interrupting me?" Wolffe growled. Fives nodded his head and Wolffe answered. "No, we can't tell Fox. He's always near the senators. If anything the Sith, who's part of the senate, could have corrupted Fox. I'm not sure Fox could help us anyways. I'm always afraid of his mental health."

Fives grinned and nodded. "I have to get back to Coruscant. The Kaminoans are looking for me, Wolffe you should go check up on Comet."

"Are you sure? I can help you get to Coruscant. Comet won't be waking up anytime soon, he's still in a bacta tank." Wolffe said.

"No, Wolffe. I'll be fine, don't worry. We'll meet back up in the barracks on Coruscant, I'll take the chips out of you and the Wolfpack when we meet up." Fives responded as he left the closet leaving Wolffe. Wolffe sat on the crate thinking about those chips and if he could save any other of his brothers. He knew Fives would tell Skywalker and Rex and then things would be okay.

                                                         ✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧✦✧

Things were not okay. Wolffe had heard that Fives tried to assassinate the Chancellor and was accused of treason against the Republic. Wolffe tried to get in touch with Rex but he didn't respond. Comet was taken out of the bacta tank and Wolffe did not want to be the one to tell him that Tup died.

He had told Sinker, Boost, and Warthog about the chips, and they were shocked. They all had agreed to get their inhibitor chips out. Comet was still unconscious but he was getting better. The burns had been healed by the bacta tank. Wolffe was extremely mad at himself. He had yelled at Comet before Comet was injured. Wolffe, hoped that Comet would get better and not die knowing that Wolffe yelled at him. Wolffe had been staying in the medbay for the past couple of days watching over his little pup of the pack. He talked to him and said he was sorry, even though, he knew that Comet was unconscious.

Plo Koon walked into Wolffe's private quarters looking very distressed but somewhat happy. Wolffe didn't notice Plo Koon walk in or hear him until Wolffe felt the Kel Dor Jedi's hand on his shoulder.

"Wolffe, I have great news and horrible news. The great news is actually a surprise! Do you want the surprise first or the horrible news first?" Plo said softly.

"I guess the surprise first, General Buir," Wolffe responded as he watched Plo Koon walk to the doorway of Wolffe's quarters. Plo Koon motioned for someone to walk through the doorway. Wolffe looked up as his pup of the pack limped into Wolffe's quarters on crutches. Wolffe couldn't speak but his eyes started to water but he didn't cry, completely.

"Comet! I thought I lost you, and I yelled at you before the mission, and I thought that-" Wolffe started as he hugged Comet tightly.

"I know, I know. It's okay Wolffe, honestly. I know you didn't mean it and we were both mad at each other." Comet said laying his head against Wolffe's armored shoulder.

"No, it's not okay. You're my pup, my responsibility, and I was so mad at you I didn't even think to check up on you during the battle. I-I- you could've died and my last memory of you would be me yelling at you and threatening to kick you out of the wolfpack. How is that okay? How are you fine with that? I couldn't live with myself if you died and it would've been my fault!" Wolffe cried. He wrapped his arms tighter around Comet's still injured form. Comet gripped onto Wolffe's arm and looked up at him with his big brown-golden eyes.

"But I didn't die, Wolffe. I'm fine and I forgive you. It was also my fault. I didn't listen to you, I got mad at you, and you got mad at me. I think it was just my fault. I'm fine and that's all that matters, Wolffe. Don't focus on what could have happened, focus on what did happen. I am perfectly fine." Comet said trying to reassure his big brother.

"Okay, okay, I get it. I'm so glad you're okay. Do the others know?" Wolffe asked slowly, trying to recompose himself. Comet nodded his head.

"Wolffe, I need to tell you the bad news. I know you had been talking to Fives while he was here on Kamino and it's only fair I tell you this." Plo Koon said, not wanting to say it but he knew he had to. "Be prepared it is shocking what had happened itself. However, it's more shocking as to how it all ended.

"What is it General Buirr? Is it really as bad as it sounds? And what about Fives? Is he safe? Is he alright?" Wolffe asked, starting to get a bad feeling about this, and hugged Comet, tightly.

"No, I'm sorry Wolffe. Fives died and your best friend, Fox has killed him."
