Both of them looked at each other and walked away. Jade wasn't here and she was the brave one. If I wasn't in pain then I would've demanded an answer but I couldn't take staying awake any longer so I fell asleep. I needed to escape reality again.
Twenty-four hours passed by, by the time I woke up from the torturous pain. It felt like my body started to give up and drain from life as I felt different. Either it was the drugs, immense blood loss, or fading hope that caused me to feel so unusual. All I knew as I laid on my stomach, cheek pressed to the ground and body stinging, was that Jade wasn't here. She was gone and I wasn't sure what happened to her.
A loud grumble vibrated in my stomach, making me wonder when the last time I ate was. There was nothing I could do however to make the feeling subside so I just continued to lay on the ground and stare at the buzzing warehouse before me with pained eyes. After a while, someone approached me and tossed in a bag of food. There wasn't enough energy for me to retrieve it until I realized something covered my body. It was Jades sweater.
Instantly, I jerked awake with energy. A quick pang of pain pressed my back but I ignored it. Her sweater had blood in some areas that were not very old. Although they looked dry, when I rubbed my fingers on it a little red stain appeared on my finger. When I looked around she wasn't anywhere to be seen, and no one spoke of her. My heart rate increased immensely with fear of what happened.
There were so many possibilities that could have happened. Of course she disobeyed someone, and even killed the same person she disobeyed, but how far would they take the punishment? She was only a teenage girl who stood up for herself. Jade had some problems within herself and they should know that. She couldn't help it.
The worst thing I could think that may or may not have happened to Jade, was them already starting the experiment on her. Drugging her was already bad enough, so I couldn't imagine how terrible it would be to have her already sliced open.
Gross what are you thinking?
"I don't know." I whispered to myself. After thinking of what could happen to Jade I started to feel fury in me. They couldn't hurt her, and I wouldn't let them. Unless they already did...
Stop it.
Shaking my head from anything else coming to thought, I slipped my hands through the sleeves and kept her disappearing scent on me. The bag that was thrown into here sat a littles reach away, and I stretch to grab it and open the crumpled bag. There were two burgers in here with two water bottles that indicated one should be for a Jade and the other for me. I guess even the other men didn't know what happened to Jade.
For the rest of the time being awake and thinking, I couldn't stop thinking of Jade. I honestly didn't know how I started to like her, but I now know that I care for her enough to develop true feelings. Even though part of me is confused and concerned about her condition, that can be dismissed when I start to think about our jokes and how we have started to trust each other, even be comfortable with our presence.
Being trapped in a small spacer together for over two weeks does a lot. Especially when I was already alone for two weeks before she got here. My loneliness might be controlling me, but deep down I know I've grown fond of her. She's started to make me open my eyes.
My thoughts were disrupted once I saw the same men, the pudgy one being Brian, approach me with keys laced around his fingers tauntingly. I assumed they came back because it would be another medical reason. Or at least I hoped.
I let out my breath when we did reach the same area. I sat on the cream colored chair and lifted my shirt off my wounded back. Brain went to get some water as I felt metal rise in my mouth from the bandages being ripped from my slashed skin. My jaw locked as the last bandage peeled off and I felt a little blood begin to trail to the bottom of my back.
"Drink up." Brian spoke as he rounded the chair and helped patch me up. I left the cool content slide down my throat.
"W-wheres Jade?" I nervously breathed.
After a slight hesitation, Brian mumbled, "Why do you care?"
What should I tell him? I like her? No that would only makes things worse. "Because she's another d-amn person I can relate to."
Laughs erupted from both men from hearing my pathetic excuse to try and swear. It sounded notorious in my head but as soon as they choked out it all crashed down, making me look weak instead of brave.
Brian glared at me and ignored me after that. Maybe he wasn't as vulnerable as I thought he was. With that, the other man got mad as well and sped up the process of changing my bandages. As I took the last gulp of water I was forced up to retrieve the shirt I threw on the floor, and follow behind them.
They walked faster going back. My mind was still confused on where Jade was. That was until I heard her sweet voice drown with pain and tears. It only lasted a second until it was gone.
Quickly, I stopped in place to try and see if I could spot her. Then I realized that even the men didn't know where she was so I might have hallucinated. The drug probably still had a little side effects left in my system. After all, it wasn't very loud and ended before it started.
Though I knew that I actually heard her voice, I couldn't keep standing here since they would suspect something. I couldn't keep walking either because I had to see if I could actually confirm that what I heard was real.
"Hey, keep walking." Brian hollered. I looked back at him and trailed along with them. My options of scoping the place out were wearing thin. There wasn't much I could do from lack of experience and from the fear of being hurt again.
Out of adrenaline, I reached for my back and pulled out a bandage until I felt warm blood leak. I let out a quick scream so that both men could turn around. "I think a bandage came off."
Skeptically, they looked at each other. With a clenched jaw, I turned around to show the blood that began to stain my shirt. A loud groan erupted before I felt a hand push me back to the same room we just came out of.
Yet again, they redid the whole process. Shallow breaths left my nose and I kept bouncing my foot, hoping that they didn't notice how nervous I was. When I felt a quick pain I took it as my opportunity to lunge forward off the seat and knock down their tray of tools. Everything clanked to the ground very loudly but I didn't hesitate to swiftly snatch a tool from the ground and hide it in my pants.
"What the fuck?" The unnamed man yelled.
"Don't hurt him. Boss wants him to heal fast." Brian complained.
"I didn't even do anything. Pussy ass bitch get up!" He yelled. I groaned in fake pain, and slowly sat back down. Brian cleaned up the mess I left behind and helped to patch me up quickly for the second time today.
The second time we walked back to my cell I looked around to try and remember where I was. Every little detail could count so I made sure to observe everything without being caught. Then, we arrived at my cell and I was forced back into my small space, shoving my face into a corner as I smirked to myself.
Bingo.
