On a mission to destroy a pillar of primordial red lyrium you figure that it should be a simple enough mission to handle with just Yourself and Varric. Traversing the wilderness is leess taking when you've got constant conversation.
"And then, these three werewolves come barreling out of the forest like a herd of angry bronto. ugly balls of fur and flees snarling and howling up a storm." Varric said with a smiled on him face, You really should have been paying attention to the world around you. But every time he tole a story, you found yourself lost in the "whats next" of it all.
It was a nice day in Crestwood, a rare thing, even after you and the inquisition fixed...mostly everything. Something about the warmth of the sun, the coolness of the breeze and Varric's voice breaking through the distant sounds of Birds and the calls of Druffalo relaxed you, knocked off your guard.
Varric let out a chuckle and shook his head "I aim Bianca because there is no way i'm out running a pack of werewolves. when Hawke pulls out this fancy Orlisian bone, dog treat have been worth four times it's weight in silvers. We'd found it while raiding some nobles trying to dabble in blood magic...anyway, those big bad wolves stopped dead in their tracks." Varric laughed.
"well...surely doesn't end there just like that?" You asked him. He gave you a sly smile as he left you hanging on. He loved to leave you on the cliff, he loved the look in your eyes, for those few seconds you weren't inquisitor anymore.
" no, no of course not, just a bit of a dramatic pause." Varric said, you narrow your eyes at him "get on with it dwarf, the Inquisitor thought, nearly forgetting -" Varric narrated while swinging Bianca off his back, You gasp as a snarl sound off behind you, while you ready your weapon of choice, Varric steps ahead of you.
a few quickdraws and the sound of arrows tear through the air, "it's still dangerous out in the ass end of nowhere." Varric says, smirking at his handy work, looking down at the 3 dead wolves.
"huh...three wolves," You murmur at his side. "now this, this will make a grand sequel to Hawke and the werewolves when I write a book about all of this." Varric mused.
"speaking of which..." you try and hint.
"oh, so - Hawke pulls out the fancy Orlisian dog bone, the Werewolves stop dead in their tracks and Hawke says. "fetch" tosses the Bone into a massive ditch, darkspawn dug up, and the fur balls ran right in." Varric said.
You exhaled "that wasn't all worth the wait." You say. to which Varric laughs "maybe not but your face while waiting was priceless" He said.
"I'm thinking, and as the story was told, three vicious wolves attacked, luckily the Inquisitor was saved by their dashing dwraven friend." Varric said as the two of you continued onward to your destination.
"and who ever said you were dashing?" You asked.
"mmmh you do, somewhere back in chapter six." Varric hums.
You stop in your steps and watched his back as he continued forward. "I-wait what? wh-what happened in chapter six!" you call, to which Varric chuckles. "I don't give spoilers." He said.
"lies, you just did, tell me!" You call.
"no, it's not my fault you don't remember the things you do, or say in the company of the resident mind reading spirit." Varric said.
