Chapter 09

I was in my bed, thinking about what was about to happen between Mark and I, I couldn't really believe that we were so close to kissing, if it wasn't for Haechan who arrived just before it happened it most likely would have happened, literally I just had met him yesterday and now we were at this, my mind was now flooded with thoughts.

Was it really going to happen or was it simply an act of the moment? I didn't even know, I was way to confused, was I going to respond?

I sighed as I turned around, not wanting to think about it anymore, I was trying to focus about my sleep, but it was not working no matter how hard I tried, it was almost impossible for me to not think about the son of Ares.

I decided to head outside, not being sleepy anymore.

Walking outside my cabin, the only place that I could think of at the moment that had some people awake that I might know was the infirmary, so I decided to head there, hoping there were people awake and not too busy.

Also, I had to be cautious of not getting caught just walking around, as the harpies could get to me, that is the real danger in the camp at night.

I could see from the distance that the lights in the infirmary were on, making me smile.

"Hopefully I don't get caught" I whispered to myself, as I created some dark smoke around me as I ran rapidly from tree to tree, getting closer to the infirmary.

As I made it to the door, I heard some objects crashing on the inside, so I opened the door as fast as I can and entered, looking around to see some medical instruments on the ground as a guy was gathering them in a fast motion.

"Lucas?" I was not certain it was him, so I approached him.

The guy turned around to see me, and I noticed that indeed it was Lucas, who had a small smile on his lips as he was balancing some things on his hands.

"Hi."

"Let me help you" I kneeled down, helping him gather all the things that were left on the ground.

We finished doing that at a quite fast speed, placing everything in order on a table, or in some cabinets, were he told me the items belonged.

"Thanks Lia" he thanked me "I don't know what's going on with me."

"I do, you're tired, I can see that."

His eyes looked tired and his movements were also quite slow, it was obvious that the son of Apollo was clearly exhausted.

"Yeah, could be" he scratched his neck with a grin.

"Either way, you are at the learning stages, what are you doing here at this hour?" I asked, as this wasn't the ideal for him.

"I should be the one asking you that question, you are here, in the middle of the night" he stated "how did you even got here without getting eaten by the harpies? Are you hurt?"

He grabbed my hands and pulled them up, searching for a wound.

"I'm fine, they didn't saw me coming" I said as his eyes still were scanning me, as if he was doubting if my words were true, he let go of my hands, but it seemed he wasn't very fondling of it "I couldn't sleep, and I know you guys are always here no matter the hour, so I decided to come here, knowing that at least someone would be awake, and luckily I found you."

"Luckily?"

"Yeah, I am grateful I found you" I responded "you are someone that I know" he smiled "and also I can help you here if you want to."

"There's someone who got injured pretty bad" he told me and I nodded "and I am the only one here at the moment as my other siblings are pretty tired, but there are some medicines that I don't know how to use well, so I was looking for a book or something, but I tripped and all of this fell down."

I wanted to laugh at his dorkiness, but I knew it wasn't the moment to do so, I bit my lip harshly stopping myself from laughing.

"I can help you with that" I volunteered and he nodded eagerly "where exactly?"

"This way."

We both started walking towards the back of the infirmary, where the lights were dimmer, as I guessed the demigod that was there was trying to get some sleep, or at least relax a little, trying to think less about the pain and discomfort.

Before pushing the curtain away, he placed a hand on my shoulder, making me stop.

"I'm almost sure you don't know him, but either way, I am going to try tell you what happened with him as if Taeil was doing the same to me" I nodded at him.

"Sure, go ahead" I commented "still, I am just trying to help, if I see that something is out of my reach, I will tell you and we will have to call someone else, agree?"

"Agree."

"His name is Jaemin, son of Hephaestus, he's also quite new here in the camp, he had repaired a magical sword he found on the forge, or so he thought, because when he was training, something went wrong, as the sword exploded and flew him to a field with venomous thorns" I scrunch my nose with discomfort, as I could imagine the pain he was in "there are several thorns still inserted on his body, he has a high fever and is shaking a lot."

"Okay, anything else?"

"He could be hallucinating."

I nodded, and then we both approached the boy, as he pushed away the curtain, he was taller than me, so it was easier for him, and even though I was somewhat tall, he was still way taller, I saw the boy, who was laying down on a bed, shaking like there was no tomorrow.

"Hi Jaemin, my name is Venelia, and I am here to help you with your pain as much as I can" I stood up next to him as Lucas was right beside me, Jaemin's eyes were closed with strength, he was trying to focus despite all that pain "I'm going to take your shirt off, alright? I need to see where those thorns are, so we can take them out."

He nodded rapidly, as his body was still shaking violently.

"Take some cloths and dip them in slightly warm water, it will help him regain his temperature slowly, as the medicine does it job" I instructed Lucas, he nodded leaving me alone with the son of Hephaestus as I took his shirt off slowly, making sure that I am not injuring him more.

With the help of some scissors, I teared apart his shirt, and as I did, I could see that there were still quite some thorns on his body, which were in different angles, making it worse.

"I am going to take those off of you, but you need to be as steady as possible, I know you are shaking and that is not something you can control, but please don't freak out, alright?"

He nodded again despite the pain, he was very strong, thing that I admired.

Lucas was back with the cloth, and he placed it on Jaemin's forehead, and after that, he grabbed his hand, making sure he felt secure.

"I'm starting now" I announced as I took a grip of the first thorn with some tweezers and pulled it out of his body, making him whimper "he's going to need a stronger dose of Hypnos potion, it will hurt a lot if he is this conscious."
