Cassidy Abernathy was strong willed. A natural born fighter. She never waited for the finer things in life to come to her, she always went and found them on her own. Her hair was a soft brown hazel, and her eyes were dark brown and gleamed sweetly and luminously. Her smile was contagious, but you could tell when she was upset. Everything about Cassidy radiated a sense of power and reassurance.
"Cas..." Gale says, standing effortlessly in the cold snow trying to get the attention of the distracted girl in front of him. "Cas?"
"Sorry... what?" She asks, examining the boy in front of her. Cassie had the tendency of zoning out a lot, which, much to her surprise, almost got her killed.
They were standing in Victor's Village where all of their houses corresponded to those around them. Katniss lived with her mom and her sister, while Peeta was with his family, and Cassie lived with her older brother Haymitch on their own. Every weekend Gale would spend his time at Cassie's house and keep her company.
"The Capitol is coming, to check in on Peeta and Katniss. I'd imagine they'd interview you too," Gale reassures the clueless girl, making lines in the snow with her feet.
"Oh... that's today?" She asks, crossing her hands behind.
"Cassie? Are you alright?" Gale asks, stepping closer to the once brave, fearless girl standing hopeless and clueless.
"I'm alright."
"Are you sure?" He asks.
She looks up at him, now realizing he was genuinely concerned. "Oh, don't be silly Gale i'm fine. You know me, always just zoning out."
He smiles at the girl, admiring her every move. He admired how her eyes glistened even though there was no sun light out which was hidden by the cold crisp air. He admired how her hair moved like the colors of the wind. He admired how beautiful she was, and not just because of her face, but beautiful in the way where it made Gale feel something inside.
She catches on and turns around. Behind her was Katniss's house. She was seen in the window in the kitchen with her sister, Prim. They were laughing at something, which caused Cassie to get the wrong idea.
"Oooo Gale, you should just talk to Katniss tell her how you feel," Cassie suggests, assuming he was staring at her the whole time.
"That's not... That's not who I was looking at," He shuffles his feet.
"Well I don't know if that means it was Prim then because that's kind of weird Gale, she's like 13..." Cassie laughs, knowing how ridiculous it sounds but still wanting to mess with him anyway.
