All what was heard amongst the group of four was the slicing of leaves coming from Peeta's knife. Nobody spoke. Nobody wanted to speak.

Cassie let her mind get the best of her, once again. She was agitated at the thought that at any moment and at any point, not even the people back home were safe. She grew colder by the day. Before the games, Cassie was filled with zest. Her brother made sure that he would raise her with his sense of humor. He would make sure that she would never get walked all over, but made sure she had a sense of pride whenever she walked around. Haymitch loved that Cassie had gotten their mother's kindness. Something he tried to obtain from both women in his life. Without his sister, he wouldn't care to carry on anymore.

"Peeta, no!"

Cassie heard Katniss scream. Like always, her zoning out tended to get the best of her so she couldn't fully comprehend what was happening. It was a lingering madness as she saw Peeta on the ground, lifeless.

Finnick lunged forward to push Katniss out of the way to help revive him. He wasn't breathing.

Time felt like it was moving slowly. Cassie felt as if she heard a clock ticking on the wall, just waiting for this horrible moment to be over. The pit in her chest grew colder and wider, hoping that her best friend would make it.

A single, long winded breathe left Peeta's mouth as Katniss ran to help him. Cassie immediately grabbed Finnick by the hand to hold it. She felt safest when she was with him.

"Thank you," the girl whispered, standing up on her toes to reach Finnick's ear. Without words, he squeezed her hand to acknowledge her comment.

As Peeta finally was brought to his feet, the group decided to start moving. They were dehydrated and hot. They all felt dizzy, but had no time to think about that.

As the group walked, Finnick resided next to the girl. Her head was down, but noticed a shimmering object on the boy's left hand.

She grabbed it, without warning. "Where did you get this?"

As soon as she said this, Katniss and Peeta both turned around. Katniss looked up immediately at Finnick, knowing she had had the same question before, it never being answered. Peeta was much too concerned on other things to even recognize that the bracelet did not even belong to Finnick.

"Cassidy," Finnick drags. "Let's just-"

Before they could finish the sentence, they heard rustling in the jungle around them.

Cassie immediately put her hand on her machete and slid it out very smoothly. "What the fuck was that?"

"Stay low," Finnick suggests. All of them now gripping their weapons, except for Mags, stood around in a circle, watching their every surroundings.

Cassie swiftly saw a shadow running in front of her as she gripped her sword now ever so tightly.

"It's the career pack," Katniss said.
