Cassie was six years old when she first met Gale. They first saw each other in a meadow by Cassie's old house. At first, Cassie used to be scared of Gale, for she never had a friend of the opposite gender before. That is until her mother, before her passing a few years later, explained to her that it was good to make a friend like Gale. Even at 6 he was kind and compassionate.

When she was chosen for the 65th annual Hunger Games, it was as if someone threw a spear right into Gale's heart. His heart stopped as Effie croaked out her name. Haymitch cried. And he never used to cry. Gale could feel the sweat build up on his forehead, not knowing what to do. He would've volunteered instantly, but he couldn't for he was a male.

As they said goodbye to each other for the last time, he tried to tell Cassie that he's been in love with her ever since laying eyes on her from when they were 6... but he couldn't bring himself to do so. The thought of finally telling her and then having to let her go was the most painful thing Gale could've ever done.

Luckily, for all of them when the games aired, it was almost easy for Cassie. She formed alliances, Finnick, the boy from 3 and the girl from 10. Finnick saved her life by throwing his trident into the boy from 1s heart as he released an arrow and shot it into her arm. She turned out to be fine, since Haymitch sent her a care package of bandages and medication.

After learning that the rest of her alliances were killed, all that remained were her, Finnick and the girl from 6.

They all gathered by the cornucopia. They were all just 14. As Finnick grasped his trident, looking as uncomfortable as ever, Cassie took ahold of the situation and told Finnick that she would complete the task, knowing it was hard for him.

Cassie gripped her machete tight and sliced it right along the girl's neck. That was when they were announced as the winners of the 65th Hunger Games.

Life after the games got simpler, but not exactly easy. Her and Finnick went on the Victor tour, that being the last time they fully got to see each other. The second time was during the 70th Hunger Games where Finnick sneaked on the victor train to come to 12 to see Cassie.

Finnick would do anything for her, even if it meant having to risk his life. He knew that it was impossible he would ever get the chance to tell her how he really feels, but he managed passing the time by writing her letters.

Which eventually brings them to the present, where Katniss and Peeta left on their Victor tour and Cassie is left at home with Haymitch to wither out the days as the victors of 12.

"Cassie, there's a letter for you in the mail!" Haymitch screams from downstairs. Cassie raises her eyebrows alarmingly and jumps out of her bed and down the stairs, stomping away as her hands gripped the railing tightly.

"Is it Finnick?" She asks, practically jumping onto her older brother.

"It says it's from district 4 so I am assuming, you psycho," Haymitch says, shaking his head and walking away to throw himself onto the couch for his daily nap.

Cassie rips open the letter and begins to read to herself. "Dear Cassidy," she read. "I am so sorry it took a couple of weeks to get this letter to you... but you know how the capitol is. Their rules are getting stricter and stricter. I am trying my best to come see you, but it seems almost impossible for my plans to follow through. Mags is doing alright though, she plants flowers in her backyard everyday. They're your favorite, snapdragons. They're beautiful. She says they remind her of you a whole lot. And I do agree with her. My family is also doing well, I hope you and Haymitch are too. It's funny to me how Katniss and Peeta are the new members of the two person victor club, it seems as if our course was overrun. But in all seriousness my sweet Cassidy, I do miss you more than words can describe. I hope you can get back to me soon. Till we meet again, Little Lotte. Love, Finnick."

"Hey, Cas?" Gale asks from the door of her room.

She slams down the letter, being startled by the handsome young man wearing an all black outfit.

"Hi Gale."

"Did you see what happened in district 11?" He asks, looking concerned while sitting down on her bed.

"No," she says alarmed, turning around in her chair and squinting her eyebrows. "What happened?"

"Riots. Looting. They're revolting, Cassie," he says, staring her dead in the eyes.

"Well it's about time," Cassie sighs. She can't help but smile at the sounds of his words. She hated the capitol and always thoughts of ways she can bring down the system. It seemed impossible for her, but knowing that other people were feeling the same feeling, she felt like this was only the beginning of it.

"Do you think they'll riot in 12?" Gale asks, more concerned than the now relaxed girl sitting in her chair.

"I want to say I hope so, but I don't know. I just don't know."

The calm girl got up from her chair to sit down on her bed next to Gale. Not much bothered the brown haired girl. Nothing really ever pissed her off or made her angry. She was witty and sarcastic, mainly giving off the effects of her older brother. She told jokes, but she was so effortlessly kind, it made everyone fall in love. Those were the exact thoughts Gale was thinking in that moment.

Cassie lay down on her bed sighing, not knowing if the riots of the districts would be the end to them. "Lay with me?"

Gale looked startled, but he awaited for a moment like this to arise ever since they were six years old. "Yeah. Sure."

He held the fierce girl close to him. His arms wrapped around her, his head resting on hers. The two would eventually drift off into a peaceful sleep together, where their cares would diminish into nothing and nothing else mattered to them except each other.
