"I didn't even know know this place existed" you said hopping out of the van, John B grabbing your hand. "Do you trust me?" He asked "is this my official initiation?" "Oh come onnnn" he laughed and walked you over to the door. "Are you ready for this?" He asked looking at you. "Boy am I ever" you said as you both walked inside.
"Check it out" "Wow" you said walking around. "Pretty cool huh?" He said looking over at you. "Yeah it's beautiful" "Yeah" he agreed. "My dad used to come here when he was a kid" "Oh yeah" you said intrigued. You had lived in Outer banks your whole life and not once had you seen this place. "He said it was a relic from the old island" he said. "Ooh. An antique?" "Yeah something like that" he responded as you walked down the isle between the benches. "Before all the...the condos and the development."
"Oh and that's the bell tower" he said as you both looked up. "Back in the day they used to ring the bells when the boats would come in" he said. "There?" You asked walking forwards and pointing up. "Yeah" e said grabbing a candle and slipping it into his back pocket. "Can I see it?" You asked. "Yeah" he said walking over to you. "I'll go first, sort it out type of thing. Rats and whatnot" he said climbing up the ladder.
You followed behind him, John B offering his hand and helping you up. "Watch your head" he laughed as you took in your surroundings. "Its pretty cool, huh?" "Yeah"
"Come here check the out" he said. He pointed at a name and a number engraved in a live of wood. ' John '13.' "Is that you?" "Yeah I was 10" he smiled. "Me and my dad did it. You knew how much John B cared about his dad, and how much his dad cared about John B. You had met him several times before his disappearance and he absolutely adored you from the get go.
"And this. Check this out" he walked over to a window. "You ready?" He asked looking at you. "I don't know" you said. He pushed open the window to reveal a beautiful sunset. Orange and pink set across the sky above the marsh. " Oh my god it's so beautiful" you said in shock. "Pretty cool, huh?" You both went silent for a few seconds taking it in.
"Why do u get the feeling I'm not the first girl you've bought here?" You asked looking at him. "You think I bring all my random hookups to my secret spot?" "I don't know what you do with your random hookups" you giggled.
"So this is gonna sound really morbid" you smiles looking at the brunette stood in front of you. "But today was a lot of fun" he stood there for a few seconds looking at you before landing closer, closing the gap between you two, placing a soft kiss on your lips. You pushed him away lighted. "I- John B I'm not-" you said. "No no it's okay" he said clearing his throat. "I'm sorry" he said softly.
"No. I feel like I should warn you when I get to this point usually with a boy I bail." You sighed. You had never committed to something like that before, not with John B, not with any boy. You had been dating John B for a few months now and you knew this would come sooner or later. "Maybe we should stop?" He asked caressing your cheek with his hand. You bit your lip and nodded. "Okay" "hey it's okay" he reassured you.
You moved and say on one of the wooden crates as John b took his place by the window, placong down the candle and lighting it "I have a question for you" he turned towards you. "Shoot"
"So um" he said a leading his throat. "Have you ever..." "No" you answered shaking your head. "I haven't"
"Does that freak you out?" You asked looking at him. "No actually it doesn't"
"I mean it's not like there haven't been chances" you both laughed. "I'm sure you had plenty of chances.
"I say I want to and I think I want to but when that moment comes-" "You think your gonna lose control?" He interrupted. "No"
"I guess I'm afraid that you'll see who i am. And that you won't like it" he smiled up at you. "You getting ready to bail now Y/N?" He laughed. "Is that what's going on?" He said making you laugh.
"You just gonna take off and leave me here in the bell tower like that Y/N?" He laughed. "You never know" you replied. "Pre-emptive strike"
"I like the strategy. Hit hard, but first" he said. "Keep you on your toes" "I guess so" he said. "What about you was it special for you?" You asked.
"Oh it was um special super special yeah" he responded. "Tourist. We met at a party. And five minutes into it she just asked." "Straight shooter" you said and he laughed. "So we went back to her condo and it lasted a total of 25 seconds" he finished. "And then I felt like shit." He said looking down.
"I always though boys just wanted to hook up with any one, any time." You admitted. "Then I got wasted." He chuckled as you took a place infront of him.
" We'll wait Y/N" he said with smile. "Thank you John B" you said.
You inched closer to him kissing him, wrapping your hands around his neck. You pushed him back slights as you crawled on top of him, not breaking the kiss. "Are you sure?" He asked. "Positive" you whispered, pushing back your hair and blowing out the candle.
