Clarisse's POVAs the sun dipped below the horizon, the momentaneous colors of dusk began to fade away. The clouds make the sunset look prettier, giving way to the velvety darkness of night. Only the faintest of light shone through the leaves, soon it grew, darkening the sky, a close silence in the dim evening light.
I'd be honest, I have spent a lot of time preparing myself for tonight. "Why did you seem to prepare a lot, Clarisse?" I asked myself staring in front of my human-sized mirror. "You're not trying to impress him, right?"
"Of course not! It's just for a thank you dinner. I just need to look decent as far as I could. Nothing more, nothing less." I answered myself with such a reasonable tone. I shook my head for a moment when I realized I've been talking to myself again.
I should be going by now, It's better to be early than to be late. I took a deep breath before leaving my room. I kissed my Mom goodbye while my Dad is at work already.
I walked casually on my way to Dream Delight Cafe. I saw a lot of customers inside but the good thing is after I went inside, my favorite spot just got unoccupied so I immediately took the seat.
I saw Jasper looking at my direction. He waved at me so I waved back at him with a smile too. He slightly raised his right hand as if he was saying the word, 'Just wait for me'. I nodded at him, even though I'm trembling, I still managed to give him a warm smile.
After some moment, Jasper's shift has ended. He went straight to me after he got his stuff. His hair bounces as he walks toward me wearing his radiant smile.
"Good Evening Miss Clarisse. Sorry to keep you waiting." His manly voice drawn a bit of shyness.
"It's totally fine, no problem. And can I request something? Please just drop the Miss. You don't have to be such formal to me." I slightly chuckled.
"Yeah, sure. Sorry about that." He held his nape for a while as he smiles.
"So, are we all set?" My eyebrows raised as my lips drew a smile when I asked him.
"Yeah, I guess." He answered then he guided me as I stood up from the chair.
He said goodbye to Michaela and we also exchanged smiles before we leave the cafe.
"Uhm do you have any idea where should we have our dinner?" I asked looking at him while we're both walking. I should've worn my small heels so I'd be a bit taller than I am at this moment. To be honest, he's way taller than me but I'd rather be comfortable being small with my sneakers than being in heels.
"Hmm, I actually know a wallet-friendly restaurant for us. Their dishes and service are great. What do you think?" He asked slanting his head looking at me while waiting for my answer.
"Yeah, sure thing. I'd love to try that restaurant you're talking about." I answered him with a smile then we continued walking together.
"So how long have you been living here? Were you born here?" He asked out of the blue to break the awkward silence between us.
"I've been living here since I was in high school. We are originally from the Philippines but we migrated to New Zealand for a while then we officially moved here in Switzerland." I stated then I also asked, "How about you?"
"Oh, that's great. Well about me, I am residing here ever since I was a child. Nothing much adventures so I was the one who's been creating my own adventures." He shared while laughing warmly as his shoulders were shaking in silent laughter.
"An adventurous man huh." I teasingly winked at him and he just chortled.
After several minutes of walking, we reached the restaurant he was talking about. I looked at the name of the restaurant, the banner says, 'Orsini's Ristorante'. Jasper and I looked at each other first before we went inside together. The lighting was dim and the air was thick with the scents of so many different dishes. The balmy indoor and special ambiance with a hushed serene made us calm and comfortable. We decided to order a delicious Risotto for our dinner and we talked about different stuffs. Until our topic went on me.
