Veronica Blue

Chapter 3

It had been a week plus. And everyday of school I got to see Veronica. And Amira would stop by to say "hi" every now and then.

The very weird thing is that Veronica would bring her baguette everyday and she would gives me half of it everyday. But it kept getting better and better everyday, so I didn't really mind.

The day had been nice and the classes were normal. Although I hadn't really made any friends asides from Veronica. And, of course, Amira who says hi from time to time.

I was on my way to the cafeteria. I rolled in, picked out my food and rolled myself over to the end of the hall where Veronica and I usually sat.

"Hey,Verinonica." I said as I took my seat.

"Hey Nicole." She said pinching out a piece of her baguette. "What's up?"

"Nothing much actually." I said with a shrug. "I was at the hospital yesterday,and the doctor said my legs are getting better."

"That's great!" She said pinching out another piece. "It's much better today. Try it!" She said, referring to her baguette as she handed me half of it. Knowing initially that Veronica was going to insist I eat half of her baguette,I didn't take much food.

"Mmm!" I said taking a bite. "It is better today." I added with a giggle.

"Heh heh. I have to go use the bathroom." Veronica said giggling awkwardly as she got up and rushed out.

Almost a few seconds after Veronica had left,Amira dropped herself right beside me.

"Hey! What's up?" She said with her usual welcoming smile.

"Oh! Hey Amira." I saif as I took a bite from the baguette. "I'm doing great." I couldn't help but notice how amazing she looked. She's wearing a black top with a hot pink flayed skirt which perfectly suited her chocolate skin and full,long natural hair which she liked to let down. She was wearing hot pink lipstick and mascara that complemented her brown eyes.

"So, why do you always sit all the way at the back of the cafeteria?" She asked.

"Oh!" I said wide eyed for a second. "It's because Veronica likes it when I sit with her."

"Veronica?" She asked looking confused "Where is this Veronica?"

"She just left for the bathroom." I replied taking another bite from my baguette.

"Who is this Veronica to you?"

"She's my best friend!" I said smiling. "At least that's what she told me in the hospital."

"Oh okay." She said. "Do you remember Sally?"

"Huh? Who's that?" I asked finally turning to face her with a raised eyebrow.

"Never mind that." She replied. "Sally's gone anyways." She addef with her lips pressed together in a tight smile.

"Gone? Gone to where?" I asked alarmed.

"She's fine,I promise." Amira said patting me on my shoulder. "Well,I just wanted to say hi. Like the usuals." She added with a giggle. "See you later."

"For sure!" I said to her with a smile as she got up to leave. "Bye!"

I just sat there eating my baguette all alone, not really caring much of the fact that I was all alone. It had been twenty minutes since Amira left. What happened to Veronica?

I decided to go look for her since I was kinda done with my food. I rolled out and headed for the bathroom. I got there but I didn't see Veronica. "Veronica?" But there was no answer. I called out a couple more times, but there was still no answer. I just rolled out of there to look for her elsewhere. There was only about five minutes left for lunchtime.

I went around looking for her,after two to three minutes I finally found her. "Veronica!"

"Oh! Hey Nicole!" She said turning to face me.

"What are you doing here?" I asked rolling over to where she was "I was looking for you."

"I'm sorry." She said with an apologetic smile. "A teacher asked me to help her out with somethings after I got out of the bathroom."

"Oh,no wonder." I said laughing a little afterwards. I couldn't believe I got so worried.

"We should get ready for the next class. Lunch time is almost over." She said as we headed for our lockers.

I woke up the next day with a terrible headache. The fact that I had a weird dream the night before didn't help matters. I didn't get out of bed immediately, I laid there trying to understand the weird dream.

I found myself standing alone in the school hallway.

Veronica came out of one of the classes so suddenly. "Hey Nicole. Want a baguette?" She said to me.

"Okay." I replied just like the usuals. She fed me the baguette and ate her half and we both giggled afterwards. She took my left hand with her right hand and tangled her fingers with mine.

But then her hand passed with mine. And suddenly, she started to go farther and farther. That was when I noticed she wasn't passing through me,but we were in fact merging.

"Veronica?!" I said alarmed. "What's going on?" I asked, scared. She just smiled and giggled.

"It's okay,Nicole. This just means we're gonna be together." She said as we became one body, me being the right side and Veronica the left. "Forever."

And then I woke up.

"It's probably nothing to think much of." I said out loud as I shrugged it off. I had to get ready for school anyways.
