It was Saturday. The day I'd been waiting for. The day we were meant to go to the park to give each other temporary tattoos!
We were meant to meet there, but Amira said she'd pick me up so I wouldn't have to stress myself or my mum.
We decided on a dress code to make more areas of our bodies accessible for the tattoos. So we were wearing tank tops and shorts. Good thing it was a sunny day.
"Nicole, your friend is here!" I heared my mum call out to me. I grabbed my jotter and rolled myself out to the living room where I saw Amira waiting for me.
"Hey Nicole." She said with a smile. She was also wearing a tank top and shorts. They were grey with pink hems with a tiny breast pocket. Mine was just plain black.
"Hey Amira. How are you?" I asked.
"Well what do you think? I'm great!" She replied with a wide smile. "Are you ready?"
"Sure." I replied.
She came over to where I was and started to push me.
The park was not very far from my house, it was a ten minute walk. Amira and I talked about random stuff on our way there, like how I was going to start practicing my walking by Sunday. Which was the next day.
We got to the park and met Veronica, seated quietly on a bench. When she said she was bringing the supplies she sure meant it.
"Wow Veronica, you sure mean business." Amira said laughing.
"Well half the fun is never acceptable." She replied. "I've got everything from plain glitter to jet black. I even have a book where we can get ideas from."
"That's what I call 'the full package.'" I said giggling.
"You know,Veronica looks and kinda acts a lot like Sally." Amira suddenly said. Veronica and I looked at her with clear confusion written all over our faces.
"Who's that?" Veronica asked and I nodded in agreement with her question.
"Oh!" Amira exclaimed. "I totally forgot you said you didn't remember-. Oh, she's no one, you wouldn't know her."
I couldn't help but think about this Sally girl whom I should know, but don't remember. That was the second time that Amira haf mentioned her. Who was she?
"Amira?" I said.
"Yeah." She replied.
"Who exactly is Sally?" I asked, because I was dying to know.
"Like I said, you wouldn't know her." She replied.
"Yes. And I get that." I said. "But now I want to know who she is." I added. Amira looked at me hesitantly and then sighed.
"She was uh. She was my best friend." She said with a weak smile. "But she's dead now." She added with a weak smile. I felt my heart sink when I heard that, and I'm sure Veronica's did the same looking at her expression.
"I-I'm so sorry." I said and Veronica nodded.
"That must have been really hard for you." Veronica said.
"It's okay." Amira said with a weak smile. "Life goes on, doesn't it? I'm sorry for saddening the moment though." She said.
"That's okay." I said. "We were the ones that asked. I was the one that asked."
"Thank you." Amira said with a smile. "Well, let's get this party started!" She exclaimed.
"Totally!" I said giggling.
We drew lots of things from song lyrics to elaborate images. Too bad they were temporary.
Apparently, Veronica was an amazing artist. Amira was really good too, but not as good as Veronica. Me on the other hand, I was terrible. According to Amira, "It's just your unique abstract style." But I didn't have intentions of making them abstract. And when I think of it, it was a good thing they were temporary.
"Nicole,I wanna give you one on the back of your neck." Veronica said.
"Okay." I replied.
She lifted my curly hair since I had let it down, and Amira helped her tie it up with a rubber band.
This drawing took a while though, and it tickled.
"What are you drawing?" I asked.
"You'll see, I'm almost done." She replied. "Done!" She exclaimed after a while.
"Oh my goodness! That's so beautiful!" Amira exclaimed. "I'm not sure what it is but it's beautiful."
"How would I see it?" I asked.
"Gimme your phone." Amira said and I handed it to her. "I'll take a picture and show you."
"Cool." I replied.
"Here." She saif handing me the phone after taking the picture.
"Oh wow! This is amazing!" I exclaimed. "I'm not quite sure what it is, but it looks like Flowers."
"Two bouquets of flowers tied together at the stem by a string." Veronica explained.
"But why are they upside down?" Amira asked.
"I felt like drawing them that way. It's more artistic."
"It kinda is." I said in agreement and Amira shrugged.
"You know what?" I said.
"What's that?" They both asked in unison.
"I'm gonna use this picture as my wallpaper and lock screen." I said. They both laughed and we continued to draw.
