"Veronica, what's going on?!" I screamed.

"Apparently you're clueless so I'll do the honours of filling you in." She said from my mouth but with her own voice. "It's a long story, but I'll try my best to make it as short as possible."

"Long ago," she started, "long before you were born. Even before your mother was born, but just a few decades before it, there was a demon."

"This demon was lonely and sad. Everyday she wandered round and around watching the people around her, their lives, privileges and such. She watched them carry out with their lives, unable to be seen by them because...humans can't see demons.

"She watched them with their pretty skin, their pretty hair, the love they showed and received, the families they had, the clothes they wore and the lives they had. But she, she was naked and alone. Instead she had red ugly dry skin. Instead she had scraggy hair. Instead she had ugly black beady eyes. Instead she had dry lips that constantly bled. Instead she had to walk around naked, because the supernatural are not allowed to affect the physical world directly, and so, couldn't access clothing. She was left to be unloved and unnoticed...because humans can't see demons...and because demons don't have family...and because demons weren't made to be loved.

"Then one day, as she sat at the end of an alley, alone as usual, she was approached by a little girl of about eleven years old.

"Hello." the little girl said. "You don't look like you belong here."

"The demon was surprised. She had lived for hundreds of years and no one had ever approached her. No one had ever spoken to her. No one had ever seen her. And that was because humans can't see demons.

"The demon screamed at the girl, she bared her set of sharp teeth and charged at the girl. The girl screamed and fell unto her back, then she said "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to disturb you. You just look like you're not from here."

"The demon stopped and looked curiously at the girl. The girl was pretty, she looked very sweet, like she were the child of a fairy. She had pure eyes and the softest looking lips ever. She looked innocent. Then the demon said "How is it possible that you can see me? No one can see me. Humans can't see demons!"

"The little girl looked confused, she said "Are you sure? Because I see you everyday." The demon looked puzzled. After a few seconds of silence she said "Go away child. I am not meant to associate with you or your kind." Then she turned around and staggered back to the end of the alley. The little girl stood and stared for a while before she said "I will not leave you.", but she left eventually.

"The next day she came back with a baguette. the demon was surprised and asked "What is this? Are you not aware that I am not meant to associate with your kind? And now you offer me food? I cannot eat that. I cannot intervene directly with your world.

"But then the girl said, "But this is not of our world. if you eat this and I eat it too, we shall merge and become one. You will be able to intervene with our world. You will be able to live as a human."

"But the demon would not believe the girl. The girl explained to her that it was possible because she had promised to never leave her and she had given the demon permission to posses her, to merge with her. "All we have to do is share this baguette and draw this illustration on ourselves." Then she held out a piece of paper with the drawing of two heads facing opposite directions but merged at the neck.
