I woke up very early on Monday because of school. Apparently it was my old school, but due to my condition it was like my first day of school all over again.

My mum helped me get ready and she drove me to school. I was looking out the window thinking about how the day was going to be. I didn't even know if I was nervous or not. Or maybe I was so nervous I couldn't even tell.

As I was looking out the window, I realised that all the while I'd been home, for about two weeks, I hadn't seen my dad.

"Mum?" I said quietly.

"Yes dear?" She replied without taking her eyes off the road.

"Do I have a dad?" I asked turning to look at her.

"Why, of course you do!" She replied, glancing at me and back at the road. "He's the reason for your skin colour. That's why I'm white and you're black."

"Oh." I had been wondering about that.

"But he's all the way in Australia. Cause that's where he works." She said as we approached the school. "Someday we'll go and live with him over there. When we're all ready." She said as she parked the car.

She came around to my side to help me out of the car.

"Have a nice day Nicole." She said to me with a warm smile.

"I will mum." I said collecting my things from her. I took a deep breath, said goodbye and rolled my way to the entrance of the building. I looked back halfway there and noticed my mother was still watching me. I laughed a little, she's always trying to keep an eye on me for as long as she can.

There were stairs leading to the entrance, luckily there were two slopes on either side of the stairs, so I direct my wheelchair towards the one on the right- which was closer to me, and made my way through the door.

"Nicole?!" A blonde girl I didn't know screamed the moment she saw me. She was wearing heavy make-up and an expensive outfit "Guys, Nicole is back!"

Immediately after that, everyone started gathering around me like I was a lost princess.

"Nicole, what happened?"

"Are you alright?"

And more blah blah blah from all around me.
They just kept on talking and making so much noise all around me. They wouldn't let me move on, they were all around me. It was all so terrible until it started to become suffocating and I couldn't take it anymore.

"Would you all just stop!" I finally let out. "I don't know any of you. At least I can't remember." The whole place went quiet rather awkwardly.

"She doesn't remember?"

"What the heck?!"

"I don't get it."

"Please could you all just clear the way so I can move!" I yelled. They all quietly cleared out and I rolled myself away from there.

"Hey, Nicole!" A guy called out to me from the crowd and I craned my neck so I could see him much better. "Your locker number is 153. And I'm your boyfriend."

"Quit lying Alex." Someone said to the boy. I just ignored and kept going, I couldn't remember my locker number, but I knew where it was.And I was pretty sure I wouldn't date a scumbag like whoever that idiot was.

I rolled myself to where I suspected my locker to be. I put in the combination that I felt to be right and it was.

"Nicole, you're finally here!" I heared someone say from behind me.
