The next day, which was Sunday, I was woken up by my mother's voice.
"Nicole?" She called. "Nicole darling, wake up."
"I'm awake." I said sitting up on the bed with a yawn.
"Guess what." She said to me.
"What is it?" I asked tiredly.
"We're going to your grandma's house!" She squealed. "After your therapy this morning, that is."
"M-my grandma?" I asked very confused. "What's-who's that?"
"Well, your grandma is the mother of your parent." She replied.
"Oh! I forgot." I giggled.
"Well of course you did darling. And nobody can or will blame you for that."
"I guess so." I said with a shrug.
"Well, you have two grandmas. My mum and your dad's mum."
"Okay..." I said with a nod. "Which one are we going to visit?"
"Your dad's!" She replied excitedly. "Mine is very far away, we couldn't go there on short notice. But your dad's mum is a wonderful woman. You'll absolutely love her!"
"If you think she's wonderful, then I have no other choice." I said.
"Come on now, let's get you ready."
"Of course."

Turns out my grandma's house is not close to mine at all. It was a two hour drive. No wonder we were in a hurry.
"You know, your grandma has been agitating to see you since you had that accident." My mum suddenly said after about twenty minutes of silence. "She said she couldn't stand the thought of you forgetting her after how close the two of you were before."
"We were close?" I asked.
"Very. You would tell her everything." She replied with a chuckle. "The two of you would go out together to have some 'non-serious girl fun'. A crazy pair the two of you were."
"Wow, she sounds like I liked her a lot." I said absent minded.
"You sure did." She said and the car was silent again. I decided to take note of my surroundings.
From time to time I would wonder why and how I'd been believing anything and everything that everyone had been telling me. Maybe it was because they all sound believable and I really had no other choice.
We finally got to my grandma's house. It was a beautiful house, bigger than ours. It had its lower parts covered by red bricks and its upper parts painted white, if I'm correct. But it was also a bungalow like ours.
My mother got down and came round to help me out. She then pushed me to the front door and knocked. In less than a minute the door was opened by an elderly black woman with curly hair, just like mine only her's was already gray.
Her face formed wrinkles at the corners of her lips as she pulled them into a beautiful and peaceful smile.
"Nicole darling!" She gasped. "Why, you look as beautiful as ever! And pretty Emma, how are you?"
"I'm fine, Margaret." My mum replied with a smile. "And so is Nicole."
"That's wonderful." She said delightedly. "Please come in." She added widening the door and gesturing for us to come in. "Please, sit."
"Thank you very much." My mum said as she pushed me to the living room. It was even more beautiful on the inside.
"So, have you heard from my son lately?" My grandma asked.
"Of course, we talk to him everyday." My mum replied, we actually do. Well at least she does. Our conversations were usually weird and awkward so we decided to just hold on till I meet him in person. Apart regular "hey" and "hi. How are you?"
"Nice to know Oliver is still keeping in touch with his family." My grandma said as she sat down. "So Nicole, how's school? How has your life been since the accident?"
"Well, school was confusing at first, but I'm used to it now." I replied. "My life is pretty okay now. I have two best friends, Amira and Veronica. They're the best."
"Amira and Veronica." She repeated after me. "Well I know Amira, you were best friends before the accident. You her and-" She trailed off.
"We were best friends before? She never said so." I asked. "Me her and who by the way?"
"Oh, never mind that!" She said brushing it away. "I can't even remember the name! I'm not getting any younger." She added with a chuckle.
"Oh. Okay." I said sceptically.
"Well I would like to know more about what you've been up to and how you're doing." She said.
"Oh, of course."
We talked for hours, or maybe just two. But then I decided to take a look around the house. I left my grandma to talk with my mum. I rolled round the house on my wheelchair observing and remembering things.
I got to a passage with a shelf on the left side. There were lots of books and novels on it. I picked up a couple one by one and examined them. They were majorly history and documentary books. But then there was this one book that really got my attention.
It was red with a leather back. It was also very old, I could tell from how worn out the leather was, but it wasn't dusty. None of the books on that shelf were. On the front of this one was written ; 'WITCHCRAFT AND SORCERY. Follow precautions before practing any spells especially if for the first time.'
I was unsure whether or not I was to believe that.
"There's no such thing as 'witchcraft and sorcery'. Even I know that." I said out loud.
"Of course there is dear." I heard my grandma say from behind me. "You of all people should know, we tried a lot of the spells and what-not together. But I guess you've forgotten."
"We did?" I asked.
"Why yes of course!" She exclaimed. "The tidying up spell and a lot of others. The safe ones, that is." She added with a chuckle.
"Can I take it home. I just want to flip through it." I requested.
"Feel free, you're not little anymore." She said with a smile. "Anyways, your mother said to tell you that it's time to go."
"It is?" I whined.
"Oh, I don't want you to go just yet either." She said. "But you don't live close by, and you have school tomorrow."
"Well, I guess so." I said with a shrug.
"Now go on dear. You don't want to keep your mother waiting."
"Yeah, you're right." I said. "Goodbye grandma."
"Goodbye dear." She said. "Oh, and don't let your mum see that book. She got pretty horrified the last time." She added with a chuckle.
"Okay grandma, I won't let her see it." I replied with a giggle.
I turned and rolled away to meet my mother waiting for me at the car.
"There you are." She said with a smile. "Come on now, lemme help you into the car."
She helped me in, we waved goodbye to my grandma and we started for home. I had the book safely placed underneath my shirt, since my grandma told me not to let my mum know.
