"You're getting better at this, Nicole." The nurse said to me as I stepped off the training stairs, or whatever they're called. If they're called anything else.
"Yeah. I noticed." I said as I sat back in my wheelchair. I was getting better at my walking and in a couple of days I would no longer have needed that stupid wheelchair.
I'd been reading that witchcraft book, and I guessed there were some reasonable spells. I don't know if I've said it before.
I'd been thinking of how my grandmother was the only one that knew I'd been reading that book, and I decided I should've probably told Amira and Veronica about it.
Anyways, we were supposed to be scrap booking at Amira's house that night. I even thought we'd end up sleeping over.
My mum was not going to be around by the time I would have been leaving, but she said the uber was coming. I had no idea what that was, but I figured Veronica would know.
It was funny how my mum had never met Veronica. It's almost as if she thinks Veronica is imaginary, because whenever I talk about her, she would put on this weird smile and say "Yes dear, Veronica."
Anyways, I decided not to tell Amira and Veronica about the book that night because we had other plans.
My mum headed out for work, Veronica arrived sometime after that, then the uber arrived a few minutes afterwards. At least that's what my mum said when she called. Apparently, 'the uber' was a rented car and driver.
"You know what scrapbooking is right?" Veronica asked as we were on our way to Amira's.
"Yeah, I guess." I replied. "It's when you take pictures, decorate them and put them in a book right?"
"Yeah." She said. "But where's she gonna get the pictures. Anyways, that doesn't matter, I brought some of mine." The ride was quiet from then on.
When we got there, I kinda helped myself out of the car. The uber left and Veronica hit the doorbell. Soon after that someone opened the door, and it was Amira's mum.
"You're here for Amira right?" She asked.
"Yeah." We both said.
"Come in, I'll call her." Sha said gesturing for us to come in.
"Thanks." We said as we enter.
"Amira!" She called.
"Coming!" Amira shouted from somewhere upstairs.
"She's coming." She said to us with a smile. "How are you?"
"I'm fine." I said.
"Wonderful." Veronica said.
"Good to know." She said with a smile as she left. I'd been here before, but that was Veronica's first time. I was surprised Amira's mum didn't ask her any questions. But then again, maybe Amira already told her everything.
"Hey!" Amira said as she came down the stairs to meet us in the living room. "Because of Nicole's wheelchair, we're gonna stay in the guest room since it's the only one downstairs."
"That's cool." I said as Veronica just shrugged.
Amira pushed me and guided us to the guest room.
"So Amira, do you have any pictures?" Veronica asked.
"Only the ones from the park when we gave each other fake tattoos, and pictures from the football field." Amira replied.
"Oh, okay. That's okay I guess." Veronica said. "I have drawings too, and art supplies."
