•"Of fucking course it won't work!" Sean puts a palm to his face at his own idiocy. He had tried to skype Lyla, but he forgot the power is off. No internet connection.
He stuffed some things in his black school bag. He was planning to stay at Lyla's until he could figure out what to do about his missing family.
Unless Lyla was missing too.
Fuck. This day is the worst. He pulled his bag onto his back and pulled out his old phone. He may have lost his OG phone, but he still had a phone his dad made him keep for "back-up." Good call, thanks dad.
He pressed shuffle on one of his playlists, his old phone rich of different playlists for different occasions.
Time to figure out what the fuck happened to all the people. He opened the door, and the cold autumn air nipped at his skin. He locked the door behind him. Like that matters.
The night was getting closer with the setting sun casting long shadows onto the roads.
"So sentimental,"
He turns the volume higher, desperately trying to drown out the ringing silence of loss.
"not sentimental, no"
He spots his skateboard leaned against his fence. Lyla's house was only a couple minutes away, but Sean wanted to feel the rush of wind on his face while skating.
He puts his skateboard down on the cracked cement sidewalk and adjusts the dark red beanie atop his head. He remembered first getting into skateboarding that lifetime ago, and how long it took for him to stay standing on the board while it moved.
I'm pretty sure I broke my leg falling off one time.
"...distant from other interests"
"Fuck." This song reminded him of the school days he spent with Lyla and the gang. He hoped that Lyla was alright.
"All I remember is walking somewhere with Lyla before it—before everyone disappeared."
Maybe it was everyones "Ignore Sean and get high" day. He had plenty of them himself.
Before he reaches Lyla's house, he spots a figure at a small playground. A smile is brought to his face and relief washes over him. He's not the only human out.
He picks up his skateboard off the sidewalk and walks toward the figure sitting on one of the swings. He pulls the earphones out of his ears.
"I thought I was the only human alive." Sean sighs, relieved he wasn't alone.
He didn't recognize the girl sitting there. She didn't go to his school.
She had short light brown hair that was just above her shoulders. She had a tanned complexion and she was curvy. She was pretty.
She looks at Sean with a small smile playing on her lips. "Hmm, I guess you're not alone." Her voice was soft. "You looked like you were going somewhere. Don't let me stop you." She holds up her hands in defeat.
"I uh—was going to my friends house." He trails off.
"Good job being so shy and awkward." He cussed at himself
"Well, good luck? I hope you find what you're looking for." She smiles.
She was wearing a striped tshirt under a form-fitting white graphic shirt.
Sean rubs the back of his neck, awkward. "I'm Sean." He shifts his weight to one foot. "Diaz."
"Honey May at your service." She giggles, doing a playful bow.
"I should leave before I make things even more awkward." He tilts his neck.
"C'ya Honey." He really wanted her to come with him, he needed the company.
He turns on his heel and continues his way to Lyla's. He makes it seem like a very long journey, when it's only a few houses down.
"Wait Sean!"
The girl grabs Sean's arm gently to stop him from moving.
She pouts when he faces her. "Truth be told, I'm lonely. Can I come with?"
"If you want to." The corner of his lips twitch, a smile threatening it's way onto his face. He managed to make a friend, maybe.
The girl smiles, her teeth a little crooked, but it added to her cute and "childish" persona.
The sky is almost completely painted black with night, several stars dotted across the horizon.
They reach Lyla's house. Sean's heart drops when he notices all the lights shut off. "It can't be."
"Maybe they're sleeping?" She asks softly, noticing the panic written across his features. Sean was handsome.
"No. No no no no." He takes a few steps back, him on the road now. "Fuck. This can't be. Not Lyla too."
"Woah! Sean, calm down." Honey grabs Sean's hand.
He quickly calms down, not wanting Honey to see him in this state. He gently pulls his hand from her hand and rubs it against his palms, as they begin to feel sweaty. "I'm okay."
He furrows his eyebrows in thought. His head hurt and the pounding pain of his side returning as he finally remembered it.
He inhales sharply, clutching onto his side.
"Are you—okay?" Honey asks carefully, afraid she might say the wrong thing.
"I'm fine—I'm fine." He says.
"Is that...blood?" She asks, noticing it soaking his palm.
"I'm,
fine."
Honey gasps loudly as he begins to fall over. She rushes to his side and keeps him from falling on the road.
"Sean!" She carefully touches his cheek.
He passed out?

tbh i don't know what POV to do it in. i want to go 1st person but i want you to hear both honey and sean's thoughts.
but i hate the "blah blah blah" he thought, or "this and that" she thought. So i'm going to continue to do it like this.
tysm for reading! i know this is a lot to take in for a 1st chapter, but there's more.
