The ladies descended from the car, still laughing and chatting amongst themselves and all the doors of the car were shut once again, leaving me and shivin alone in the car.
The muffled silence stretched between us and I thought for a moment I could hear my heart loudly thumping inside my chest before he turned the engine back on.I momentarily glanced at him while his eyes were on the road. I wanted to say something but then couldn't seem to find the words. My flesh felt a little warmer than before even though the ac was still on. I took out my phone and pretended to be busy, just to do something with my empty hands.
God! What am I doing? I am a grown ass man and I need to get my shit together!!. I straightened myself a little in my seat and slipped my phone back into the pocket. Shivin however, looked quiet. ..composed...oblivious to my growing unease beside him. I had to subdue the urge to steal glances every now and then.He turned up the volume of the radio and started humming along.
"Dil sambhal jaa Zara" was playing. Now the universe knew I should slow my heart rate the fuck down. Well, a slight smile appeared on my face but I dismissed it. "So? Will you stay here till August? I mean for the wedding you know...guess you must have heard about it by now?", he asked. Though he tried to keep his voice perfectly casual...I detected a hint of curiosity in his voice.
"Umm...i didn't know I'd be attending a wedding when I came here...but now that dadi is so excited about everything...don't think I have any other choice...so guess I'll stay...yes.", I snorted. He smiled and nodded... But turned his head to his right so I couldn't catch his reaction."Man you've to stay...i will introduce you to some of my best mates...it would be fun you wouldn't miss a thing . I'm glad you came.", He smiled. AWWW THAT FUCKING SMILE. Had he any idea what that smile does to people I think he would start charging for it.
I turned to look outside the window.
The deep and dense woods along side the road passed by us in a blur as we sped away. I noticed the morning was not as bright as I remembered while leaving...heavy grey clouds hung over the mountain ridge...and a slow drizzle started in a matter of minutes.I could feel a pair of eyes on me. When I turned to look at Shivin he immediately faced the road. Well why would he look at me?? I'm crazy. Then another half an hour went in talking about movies. Surprisingly we both had somewhat similar taste in music. He liked indie as much as I did. It was great knowing we've Something in common.
Soon we reached a place called, Robber's Cave.
