Always Second

Chapter 26

Delilah looked around as everyone went down to eat. She was sitting at a table with Scarlett, Savannah and Jace's best friends. Seated at the end and an empty seat in front of her for Jace, Delilah looked around at the beautiful scenery in front of them. They were eating outside on the patio and there were lights around that dimmed the place. 

"Have you ever been to Florida before, Lilah?" Tyler was sipping on his wine, as his arm was around his dates seat. Introducing them to her earlier, Delilah could tell they probably weren't going to see her ever again after this trip.

"Never, it's my first time here."

Suddenly, Jace finally decided to join them, coming up behind Delilah and kissed her on her cheek before sitting in the seat across form her.

Tyler teasingly looked at Jace and said "Awww. Would you look at that. My boy's all grown up now. Look's like I'm the only one left."

Laughing and rolling his eyes, Jace grabbed Tyler by the back of his neck and squeezed it, causing Tyler to groan in pain.

After dinner, Delilah headed back upstairs to get ready for the pool party downstairs. Changing into a blue bikini and throwing a sheer swimsuit cover up over it, Delilah let her hair down in loose waves and headed downstairs with Scarlett and Savannah.

When they got off the elevator onto the first floor, Delilah could already hear the music. Making their way to the pool, Delilah spotted Jace and made her way towards him. 

Jace was laughing at something Ashton said when he saw a goddess walking towards him. His goddess. She was in a white cover up that was so sheer, Jace could see the swimsuit she was wearing beneath. Jace forgot how to breath as she came closer towards him with the sweetest smile on her face upon seeing him.

"Hey." 

"Hey." Jace placed his hands around her waist and brought her down onto his lap. Moving her hair to the side, Jace nuzzled his face in her neck smelling her scent and left small kisses up up and down. "You look beautiful."

Delilah laughed as she turned her head to look at Jace. "So, you know the competition that I entered my piece into?"

Jace nodded his head as he recalled her talking about the competition Harvard had for all the architecture student's, undergrad and grad. Harvard wanted to build a new building and thought it'd be a good idea if they chose one of their student's to design it. The student who won would be able to foresee their whole design be built.

"Well, i just got notification today that I won!!"

Pulling her tighter against her, Jace kissed Delilah on the lips. "Congratulations, babe!! That's huge!!"

"I know, right!!" Delilah beamed at Jace as she put her arms around his shoulders. As he wasn't wearing a shirt, Delilah could feel the heat of his body and skin sending tingles down her entire body. "Anyways, they're having an event Sunday night to give me an award and commemorate me." 

"That's great!!"

Delilah played with the ends of his hair as she was nervous to ask him. She had already invited Scarlett and Savannah but they already had to be somewhere else. Scarlett's older sister was being induced that day and so Scarlett would be getting on a plane to New York where her sister lived instead and Savannah had to be in New York for an important meeting she had to sub in for her dad. "I was wondering if you could come."
