PART III:
❝ you know .. you've reaped what you've sown .. ❞
~
"Do you have everything packed? Your books? Your papers? Folders? Th-"
"Hand sanitizer? Yes, Mommy. I have everything." A young Jeremy grinned, looking up at his mom. "Don't give me that look! It's the first day of 3rd grade! You're 9 years old already.. Woo, boy you need to stop growing so fast." Jess, his mother, smiled. "I can't help it!" Jeremy said, laughing a bit. She hugged him. "Oh, I know Hunte- uhm.. Jer-Bear. I love you so much."
They were standing in front of the school, and Jess was about to let him walk to his teachers class. By himself. For the first time. "Are you sure you don't want me to go with you, honey?" Jeremy nodded. "I'll be okay, Mommy. I promise." Jess sighed, smiling. "I know you'll keep it." She kissed his forehead. "Mooommy! I'm gonna be late!" Jeremy said, inching towards the front gate. "Oh, are you too old for mommy's kisses now?" Jeremy rubbed the back of his head. "I didn't say thaaat.."
"Good." She kissed his forehead once more, and gave him a final hug. "I love you... Be safe, my darling." She whispered, letting go of him.
He waved her goodbye, running towards the gate, where his friends were.
WHO KNEW THEY'D BE WITH HIM AFTER DEATH TOO..?
~
"Was that your mom? She looks kinda tired." Susie said, poking Jeremy. "Yeah, she works the night shift at the hospital. She doesn't get much sleep nowadays." Gabriel shrugged. "She's kinda overprotective, too. I mean, she put a marshmello on your sharpened pencils!" Jeremy frowned. "C'mon guys, that's his mom. A little protection won't hurt, especially from this lil' guy!" Fritz smiled, patting his friend on the back. The group murmured in agreement, walking into their class.
~
The only one who didn't have the same class as them was Gabriel, but even then, he still sat with them at lunch. Nobody seemed to mind, not even the teachers. They didn't bother anyone, and they weren't loud or disrespectful. So they left the group be. They mainly talked about the games they were to play after school, and Fritz bragged about how his dad took him out to the old wood shack they owned. Jeremy nodded and listened, never really having much to talk to the others about. Susie talked about her new puppy. Gabriel talked about the latest toys he got. Jeremy? Well.. he didn't feel comfortable talking about his home life. So he quietly listened to everyone else talk about their summer, and occasionally chimed in, talking about the games they played over the summer.
"Guys guys! I forgot to tell you! My birthday is this weekend, and I'm going to Freddy's. Want to come?" Gabriel asked, tapping the table. They all nodded. "Yesss! That's awesome! It's gonna be the best birthday party EVER!"
~
Remember that, Jeremy? Remember when it was supposed to be fun? Before the man in a golden suit killed you? It was all your fault. You could've stayed alive, and your friends wouldn't have gotten hurt. You shouldn't have said that you wanted more cake.
Selfish.
Stupid.
Sensitive.
Ignorant.
Uneeded.
You're all those words. Remember that, The next time you make another choice to do anything. So why don't you just be a good boy and shut the fuck up? Just like your stepdad used to say. You listened to him, so listen now.So what are you waiting for, little boy? Why don't you get some blood on your hands?
