Once he finished, Byleth sheathed his training sword, and walked towards his sister, who was still on the ground. Byleth asked his sister, "You alright? I saw you land wrong."

Blythe shook her head. Byleth then walked to his sister, and put his arm around her shoulders. He then helped her up, with Blythe leaning on her brother heavily.

Mercedes walked over with the rest of the class. The pinkish-blonde haired woman then walked over to Blythe. Blythe felt healing magic fixing her twisted ankle.

"Thanks, Merce." Blythe said after her ankle was healed. She then stopped leaning on her brother. Byleth then walked to the center of the training ground, in front of the class.

"You all did good for your first time working as a collective class." Byleth said. He then continued. "A few suggestions, though. Make sure you're not able to be flanked, and attack in numbers."

Looking at the class, Byleth had a feeling that the Blue Lions would do just fine with the mock battle the next week.

On the way to meet up with their father at the training ground, Blythe and Byleth were pulled aside by Byleth's fellow colleague, Professor Hanneman. Byleth turned to Blythe, "Can you tell Father that Professor Hanneman needed me for something, and that I won't be able to come until later?"

Blythe nodded at her brother's request. She then left to go tell Jeralt what had come up. After looking at each other briefly, both male professors walked into the Crest Scholar's Office.

"Say, while you're here...I'd like to use this device I designed to determine whether the power of a Crest resides within you. Won't hurt a bit. Promise." Hanneman said.

Byleth looked at Hanneman with a questioning gaze. He had heard of Crests from Blythe and the rest of the students at the Monastery, but he never knew what they were. He then asked, "Uh...What are Crests, exactly? I'm afraid I do not know much about them."

Hanneman looked at Byleth with a slightly shocked and sorrowful gaze. "You don't know about Crests? Well, allow me to tell you everything-absolutely everything-about them. Is your calendar clear? This will take a while."

Byleth looked at the time. He had about two and a half hours until he had to meet up with the Blue Lions. The teal-haired professor supposed that he could spare the time for Hanneman to explain to him about Crests. "I'm free at the moment."

Hanneman put a hand to his chin in thought. After a moment or two, he then took his hand off his chin, and spoke to Byleth. "Crests are a fascinating topic, but before one can dive deeply into said topic, one must first understand what Crests are. They are power incarnate."

Byleth then adopted a thinking stance while Hanneman continued speaking. "They are said to have been bestowed upon humans by the goddess countless ages ago. They exist within the flesh, and are passed down through bloodlines. Those who carry Crests may excel at magic, display exceptional strength, or any number of boons. Each Crest has its own power, the nature of which is beyond mortal understanding. For now."

"And you believe I have a Crest?" Byleth said.

The Crest Scholar replied with, "I suspect as much, yes. But we won't know for sure unless I look into the matter. As I said, Crests are passed down through the blood."
