The Deal & a Bucketlist

Chapter 1

Instead of sitting in class I get called out to go to the office. I sit outside the principal's office wondering what I could have done wrong.
"Riley Jenner you can come in now." Mr Fisher says.
I walk in slowly and sit down in the chair opposite of him.
"Riley I have received some news about your mother ... I'm afraid she has passed on." Once he said that it feels as if a bomb went off and I immediately start crying my eyes out, I have been told many horrible things in my life but this one has hit the hardest after finding out my mum had cancer.
"Your older brother is waiting outside for you." he says with a sad look on his face and I walk out the door I see my brother who I haven't seen in a year. The reason for that is he has been in university studying for an English degree.
"Matt how are you? What's going...to happen to us?" I say while the tears are still pouring out.
"Come here Riley it's going to be okay." he says and gives me a tight hug. We then drive home I am greeted by my twin younger siblings Mike and Aria they both have red puffy eyes and are 12 years old they are both adopted but they feel like my real brother and sister. We talked for a little bit then I made my famous Mac and Cheese . I spend the rest of the night crying.
The next morning I am greeted by my two best friends Katy and Blake.
"Hey guys how did you get in?" I ask.

"Well after we heard the news we needed to see how you were coping. We are sorry about your mum she was a lovely and strong women." Katy says.

"To be honest with you I'm not feeling too well I knew this was going to happen I just know when. I feel even worse for Mike and Aria they are only 12 and are dealing with so much." I reply honestly. For the rest of the day we just watch our favourite movies it makes me forget about how miserable I am.
As soon as we finish watching Frozen my iPhone starts ringing. I check the caller ID it is my aunt Maria.
"Hello Maria...how can I help you?" I try to talk as nicely as I could but Maria has been very distant with our family she wanted nothing to do with us after my mum adopted the twins I have no idea why though.

"Um...I was calling to tell you that I have been in contact with your brother Matt and we have already organized the funeral it is tomorrow. Goodbye...see you then sweetie." She spoke in monotone it annoys me it's like she feels nothing, her sister just died.

"Hey Rye we have to head off we have school tomorrow maybe we can see you after school." Blake says using my nickname

"Can you guys please come to my mother's funeral tomorrow? I think I might need some support." I ask in a small voice.

"Sure Rye what's the dress code?" Kate asks .

"Just where a bit of pink to support Breast cancer well...that's what Maria texted me." I answer.

"Okay Rye we will be there" Blake says and kisses the top of my head and Katy waves goodbye.

I hear knocking on my door and see Aria standing there,
"Hey Aria, what's up, are you okay?" I ask concerned.

"I'm okay I just feel a bit depressed Mum is gone I don't know what's going to happen and I miss her." she falls to the ground with tears. I wrap my arms around her.

Matt comes into the room. "I'm sorry girls I know you're sad but we have to start packing up the house." he says and walks out. I tell Aria and Mike to go pack all their clothes up. We are moving to Florida where my brother lives with his Girlfriend Penny, Which means I have to finish my senior year in a new school and the twins, have to go to a new middle school. But all I can think about now is getting through my Mother's Funeral.

The Next morning.

I get up and go take a shower I put on a black dress that reaches just past my knees with a pink breast cancer badge I braid my hair to the side my mother's favourite way that I wore my hair. Aria knocks on my door and asks me to do her hair. I put it in a neat bun we both go downstairs to the kitchen to get breakfast. We wait for Matt and Mike. We then all go to the funeral. When I step out of the car Katy and Blake run up to me and hug me. Everyone that walks past me says the same thing.

'Sorry for your loss.'
'she was a strong women'
'you were lucky to be her daughter'
'I didn't know her well but she seemed nice'
The last one I don't understand if you didn't know her why are you here. I look around and see all the other graves i see a family mourning a loved on which breaks my heart i look around and see more people placing flowers for loved ones

There a few of my relatives that made speeches.
"Now Jackie's daughter, Riley would like to say a few words about her mother." I get up off my seat and slowly walk to the platform i am shaking as i pull out something i wrote, my eyes are watery I feel like I can't speak. I look in front of me to see the casket it is white and has my mother's favorite flowers lillies and a few white lotuses

"My mother was a strong women she raised four kids by herself and did a good job of it, she was smart and creative she would always be painting paint and splattered it all over the house. She fought the Cancer all the way to the end, she was brave and a fighter she will be remembered for that." I say noticing a tear had slipped out of my eye I stepped off the platform.

"Well said sis." Matt tells me and pulls me in for a hug. I am the last speaker.

They buried her ,my mother Jackie Jenner.
