"Everybody freeze. We didn't come here to fight, we came here to play hockey. We're team USA. You represent your country. Now let's start with a scrimmage." Both coaches blew their whistles and they split up. New kids against the Ducks. "Alright Ducks, let's show 'em what you got. Let's scrimmage." Everyone pulled their helmets over their faces and took their positions. Someone decided it would be a great idea to put Harvey up against Adam. She's just gonna fly past him. Dwayne was at center against Jesse doing the face off.
"Great day for hockey, ain't it?" Harvey smiled and stood up straighter, turning to Dwayne.
"Yippee ki yay, Cowboy! Let's play some puck." Adam smiled as the girl bent her knees and faced him, sending him a wink and catching him off guard. "Ready to lose, Banks?" The boy smiled as he looked back at Harvey.
"I don't know, Harvey, are you?" Soon enough, Jesse and Dwayne began fighting for the puck, but Jesse just ended up on his butt as Dwayne skated with the puck down to the goal. Harvey turned and started skating backwards in front of Adam as her brother came up behind Dwayne, taking the puck and skating full speed towards the net.
"Oh no." She turned and skated next to her brother, yelling at him to pass the puck. "Luis, pasa el maldito disco." Her brother nodded, passing the puck to his little sister before skating towards the goalie, knocking him down. Since Goldie was down, Harvey shot the puck into the net, scoring a point for her team.
..........
Soon, Adam was making his way towards Julie, with Harvey coming up behind him.
"¡Coge el disco!" She rolled her eyes as she caught up to Adam.
"Obviamente." His eyes widened when he saw her in the corner of his eye. She went in to check him but he passed the puck to Jesse before she could get to it. They both ended up on the floor, but Adam ended up on top of her. Harvey groaned as Luis skated towards them, aggressively pulling Adam off of his sister.
"Get off of her, dude." Dwayne skated towards Harvey, helping her up as Fulton got the puck, skating it down the rink.
"Watch out!" All of the Ducks jumped out of the way of the puck, while the new kids just stood there, confused. Then Harvey's eyes widened as the puck flew at her brother. She skated towards him and pulled him out of the way as the puck hit the goal, but didn't go in. It bounced off the ceiling and a wall before making its way towards Mr.Tibbles, knocking him out.
..........
Everyone skated to him, worried about the man. Harvey skated towards the bench, where she had put Dwayne's hat and picked it up, taking it back to Dwayne. She placed it on his head and stood in between next to him and her brother. Dwayne could hear Adam scoff as he placed an arm around Harvey.
"I'm Michelle McKay. I'm their tutor." Everyone looked at each other, not wanting to learn. They would much rather play hockey than go to school.
"I'm coach Bombay, their coach."
"Who said we need a tutor?" Harvey and Adam looked at each other, shocked that they said the exact same thing. Everyone else just nodded and agreed with the two of them.
"I don't need no school." Harvey rolled her eyes at Dean's improper grammar. She hated when people spoke improperly.
"Clearly." She hated school, she would always get bullied for playing on a team full of boys and to be honest, she was afraid of getting bullied again. She quickly skated to the other side of the rink, making her way to the locker room. Dwayne, Adam, and Luis were the only ones who noticed the young girl leave. Luis had asked Dwayne to go talk to her, knowing his southern accent might cheer her up. He happily nodded and made his way to Harvey. They met today, but they were already good friends.
..........
"Thanks, Texas." Harvey smiled as she pulled him into a hug, glad that he came to talk to her. After their hug, her brother came rushing in, telling her that the team was coming. Harvey nodded her head and thanked Dwayne again before getting ready to pack her stuff up. All of them came piling in as she began to take her gear off. She had packed up all of her brother's clothes for after practice, and Luis still hasn't noticed. She had taken a pair of his navy blue sweats and his grey beanie. She cursed at herself for forgetting a sweater, but didn't worry about it. She tied up her converse, put the beanie on and grabbed her gear, ready to leave. She waited outside as her brother continued to goof off and flirt with Connie and Julie.
"Here." She turned to see Adam, holding his sweater out towards her. She smiled as she moved his hand away from her.
"No, you'll be cold. I'll be okay." He smiled and draped his jacket over her shoulders, making her smile. She chuckled as she put it on, putting her arms through the sleeves.
"Thanks, but are you sure?" Adam chuckles and nods, telling Harvey for the second time that he would be okay.
..........
Their noses were almost touching as they looked into each other's eyes. They weren't going to deny and say they didn't find the other attractive, because that would have been a huge lie. Adam already liked her and they've never really talked. He liked the way she smiled and laughed. He liked the way she got along with everyone. He liked her personality. He liked the way she cursed at her brother in Spanish when she was mad. He liked her. They began to lean in, but Luis decided it would be a great time to walk outside. Adam and Harvey backed away from each other faster than Dwayne could say yes haw.
"C'mon Harv, we have to go back to the hotel." Harvey waved bye to Adam and turned around, walking to their hotel with her big brother.
