I look over at Sienna drinking her coffee as I sling my purse over my shoulder.
"Are you sure you don't want to come?"
"Yes. I have work to do. Dylan is also taking me to lunch."
"Okay, have fun," I call walking out he door. I had just realized how little time Sienna and I spend. I could change that.
"So," Jennifer starts to say as I browse through the racks of a little boutique on a private street.
"How are things with Luke?"
I freeze in midst of looking at a purse, and give Jen a dirty look.
"Oh just in fact we made up and forgot all about the fact about how he used me for sex, and cheated on me. Then, we grabbed hands and rode on horses into the sunset!" I say, a little too sarcastically.
"Okay, gee thought there was news."
I sigh, and look at her. "Look, it's only been a month since I have gotten over that ass, I'm still waiting to find closure. You know, he actually meant something to me."
Jen looks up from the skirt she is staring at and says, "Yes, I guess you have a point.""Want to go eat?" Jennifer suggests, as we lay our chosen clothes out on the counter for the cashier to check out.
"I guess we could. What do you have in mind? Do you have a specific place?"
"Yes, I was thinking about a little Italian restaurant around the corner. I've heard great things about it."
"Okay, we could eat there. I do love Italian food."
-
I take a seat across from Jennifer, and start to flip through the menu, even though I know what I will eat. The table is outdoors, and I just notice how lovely everything. Not only is it a fancy, and classy restaurant, but it's just a beautiful day outside. The breeze ruffling my hair and tickling my skin, the sun shining bright, and giving off warmth. Any Los Angeles day would be expected to be like this, just not many people realize it, and actually embrace it.
We eat our meals peacefully, only talking when necessary, and we decide to pay the expensive check, and go back to our homes.
"That was a great experience, I hope we can do it again some time," Jen says as we walk towards my building. I stop in front of my door, and think of a reply as I fish the keys out of my purse. I guess I enjoyed it as much as she did. Jen cleared her throat, "Listen, my manager called me about a movie deal. It's called The Prosecutor, but I felt like since I am shooting Mockingjay in two months, and you need something to take your mind off of Luke, I can give it to you?" I stay silent, because a movie is a big decision, and I feel that I should think about it first."It sounds like something I would want to do, but I need to put some thought into it," I say, shattering the silence of suspense.
"Well I have all of the information in my purse, take a look at it if it will help you make the decision," Jen suggested, as she delved into her purse to take out piles of papers. She held them out to me and I grabbed them. I thanked her as I entered the building and heading inside, setting the papers down on the kitchen table. The house is empty, so I figured I could go through the movie information and manuscripts. I sat down in one of the high, cushioned chairs and started to flip through the papers. It turned out that it caught me by surprise, and the plot was amazing, funny, and a mix of mystery and thriller. I couldn't help but accept the job. After all the pieces lying in the ground won't fix themselves. One by one I'll pick them up, and start fresh. I got up and picked up my phone dialing Jennifer's number.
"Hello?" Her voice echoed on the other line, hanging in silence waiting for an answer.
"I have decided I'll take the movie deal."
